Hausa, as a language, unites the whole of Northern Nigeria and extends into parts of the neighboring Niger, Chad, and Cameroon. Regardless of your ethnic background, Hausa remains the common lingua franca for anyone living in the North.
Before Sarki Sulaimanu, Kano had over 40 rulers, from Bagauda (998) to Sarki Muhammadu Alwali (1780). Dear @bbchausa, this rich history should have been reflected in your headline.
This is a very valid observation, and we fully endorse it. We join in calling on @inecnigeria to reconsider their decision to schedule the 2027 general elections during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dear @INECNigeria
This is a respectful observation following the announcement of February 20th and March 6th, 2027, as the date for the next Presidential and National Assembly and Governorship and State Assembly elections respectively. The proposed dates fall within the holy month of Ramadan, a period during which many Muslims devote significant time to fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
If the intention is to encourage full and inclusive participation in the electoral process, scheduling such a critical national exercise during Ramadan may present challenges for a large segment of the population. Many Muslims tend to reduce engagement in demanding worldly activities during this period in order to focus on religious obligations.
Given the significant Muslim population in this country, it may be worthwhile to reconsider the timing to ensure broader participation and convenience for all citizens.
I do hope this observation will be taken in the spirit of inclusiveness and national cohesion.
Thank you.
Bashir Ahmad, OON
This is one of the stories that truly captures the spirit and continuity of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as powerfully as the academic journey of Professor Aisha Mahmoud Hamman, one of the institution’s pioneering female Professors of Accounting. Her life stands as a remarkable example of the ABU’s institutional loyalty and academic excellence. Prof. Aisha Mamman’s story began with her early education at ABU Staff School, continued through Secondary School, and culminated in earning her BSc., Master’s and Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance; every stage of her academic pursuit was rooted at ABU, Zaria.

Waidi Shaibu, the chief of army staff (COAS), met with Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, on Friday.
The visit was said to have been geared towards reaffirming the “resolve of the Nigerian Army to work closely with community leaders to promote stability and coexistence across the country”.

Maybe because emotions are high, you won’t see people engaging in such meaningful discussions now, when they truly matter, perhaps not until it is already too late.
This is all about militarist aesthetics and nothing to do with actually countering these groups. One can only hope that the Nigerian government can manage US posturing in a way that limits negative consequences.
In Islam, Jesus (AS) has no biological father. Muslims believe Allah created Jesus miraculously, just as He created Adam without a father or mother. Jesus is regarded as a prophet of God, not the son of God.
28 Muslims Travellers abducted, including men, women, and children, who were heading to a Maulud gathering in Zak village, Bashar district, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident happened on Sunday night, around 8 pm, near Sabon Layi. The victims include two princes and a religious leader.
The attackers intercepted the vehicle, took everyone, and left the vehicle behind. The community is still searching for the victims, and security agencies have been informed. The Plateau State Police Command is investigating the incident.
This is not an isolated case, as Plateau State has been experiencing recurring kidnappings, banditry, and cattle rustling. Residents are calling for increased security measures to protect lives.
For years, Kano, Katsina and other North-Western states should have been working in close partnership with one another, particularly in the areas of security operations and economic development.

Leaders united in solving the problems of their people.
God help our leaders…
This is to strongly condemn the reported abduction of 12 Muslim faithful by armed militias in Plateau State. The victims were reportedly travelling to attend an Islamic gathering in Gaji village, Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area, when they were brutally and unlawfully intercepted and taken. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
This cruel act is unacceptable and constitutes a grave violation of the fundamental rights to life, liberty and freedom of worship. No individual or group should be targeted on the basis of their faith or peaceful religious activities.
We humbly call on the relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to secure the immediate and safe release of the abducted persons, identify and apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.
Peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and the rule of law must prevail.
@MasterMaliq Master Maliq, let’s save you from this long explanation. I have just one simple question for you, Is Jesus (AS) and his mother Maryam (AS) Muslim?
Mary wasn’t wearing a "Muslim dress. There is no such thing as a Muslim dress or a Muslim look. Women in the Levant covered their heads and wore loose garments because that was the culture of the region, long before Islam and long after it. Calling cultural clothing “Islamic fashion” is historically wrong.
And yes, Mary is honoured in Islam, and Maryam is a beautiful name. But let’s respect history properly: she dressed like her people, not like a future religion.
Is this truly the kind of preaching being delivered in the churches? When pastors use their pulpit to spread misinformation, hatred and hostility, how can anyone be surprised at the growing rise of Islamophobia in this country? Hope the relevant authorities are taking notes.
"For you to be a Muslim, you need to f0rmat your bråin and delete your sėnsė. The Quran is like a book written by a dėm0n. Only a dėm0n can give the kind of instructions in the Quran" - Pastor tells congregation
This is someone who blocked anyone calling Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide, yet is now suddenly and hypothetically labeling Nigeria’s deeply complex internal security challenges as ‘genocide’ and without a single piece of data to support it. The hypocrisy is alarming. ⚠️
This is the Genesis of these tribal and religious crises in the North in which the government of the day intentionally REFUSED to punish the perpetrators of crimes just for selfish reasons. Zamini lewkot. @USMOVIC@DrModibbo1@arewacycle
Every single day, these guys continue to expose how little they actually understand about the very people they spend so much time discussing. Their comments make it clear that they speak with confidence but without real knowledge of the people they claim to know so well. 🤦♂️
📷Photo: Away from religious extremism for a moment, I’m genuinely curious... Yoruba have Wole Soyinka, Igbo have Chinua Achebe, who do the Hausa have? Is there any top literary writer from the North?
This happened just this October, yet there’s no outrage from any quarter. Everywhere seems to have gone quiet, no statements, no condemnation, nothing. This silence is troubling. This is not justice.
Three Fulani men travelling in a commercial vehicle were targeted, brought down and killed without any reason other than their tribe, by Mangavul tribal farmer militia group at Kantoma, Mangu LGA of Plateau State on 8th Oct. 2025.
