Taoiseach Micheál Martin has signalled that immigrant workers already in Ireland may be able to qualify for citizenship under the existing five year rule.

This is despite the incoming law change requiring a person be resident in Ireland for eight years.

🚨🇬🇧 NEW: Reduced migration is set to cost the UK treasury £1bn-£4bn a year

Kate Bowskill shared a video of a Tommy Robinson supporter on a train spouting negative views about brown doctors, foreigners and that women should stay at home and cook.

When Kate has had enough and educates the man, his response “sorry love, I didn’t know it was that time of the month”.

Tommy Robinson and his ilk has enabled this horrifically negative mindset about women - it needs to stop.

Spoke with four migrant health professionals about their experience in the Irish health service and what impact the proposed changes to citizenship rules might have on them and their families. Out now. No paywall 👇

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd You don’t want people here- pay them their taxes back! The Irish economy will go bankrupt and your dole will stop!

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd The deal is you are eligible to apply for naturalisation after you do all that in 5 years in Ireland ! People agreed to that deal and are here working towards it! You want to change the deal - change it for future . Not for the ones who are here on another framework

[Tony - Pod Guy - Groves @Trickstersworld]

We often hear that our health service would collapse without migrant workers. But what does that mean? I spoke with 4 international medical professionals about this and the new citizenship proposals: https://t.co/f3C22Dzbak

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd You expect an immigrant to pay the same tax or even more than some welfare surviving Irish citizens and you run away from the arguement of citizenship the moment they ask for the rights! Fuck off

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd An Irish citizen is entitled to far more facilities and state welfare than an immigrant who pays the even more taxes! Don’t you even know the amount of Irish citizens on dole- who pays for that? What’s their contribution to the taxes?

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd You want to compare Ireland with Qatar - stop taxing immigrants and don’t give citizenship. You can’t expect to take 50 percentage of their earning and expect them not to get naturalised citizens! You just don’t know the basic economics of civic society

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd The discussion was about Irish citizenship - you brought in citizenship in Qatar - which in your words is a renters place- illogical argument to begin with. I pointed out why Qatar doesn’t give citizenship because they don’t tax 50% of income from immigrants!

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd Since it’s sandy no one lives or works there? Fuck off Bot!

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd So why the heck would you compare the citizenship rules in Qatar to Ireland!

[FactScanner @FactScanner007]

@Ferng6Ferng @IrishTimesOpEd Now check how much Tax an immigrant has to Pay in Qatar and compare that with Ireland you noob!

Today, I asked the government to take action to stop the growth of the far-right.

This seemed to upset the Reform MPs in front of me.

[Conor O'Neill @conoraon]

Raising the years required to apply for citizenship from 5 to 8 will help absolutely no one, but will needlessly make life more precarious & difficult for so many people living, working and contributing here. I suppose that signal is the point. So disappointing.

Issues Reform have failed to comment on this week

- the death of two Police officers just doing their job and in the wrong place at the wrong time

- the 'gang' culture around Middlesborough - too white and working class to have any political value

- the disaster in Nepal despite the number if Nepalese troops that serve with UK forces

- the declining number of small boat arrivals, hotel use and immigration backlog

A decent, working, family man, generations of his family lived in the UK before him, hounded, harassed and targeted because of violent, drug addicted convict, Tommy Robinson.

This is the reality of the UK Far Right. A group of criminal scumbags praying on innocent people purely because of the colour of their skin.

We have been set back decades by this movement being given global attention by powerful people who have a personal agenda to achieve. An agenda that does nothing to serve ordinary working families and is hurting Britain so badly.
