The way out of the deepening crisis in Oromia
- Start negotiations with OLA towards truce
- Remove Fano militia out of Oromia and facilitate the return of IDPs
- Accept comprehensive national peace process is the only solution and plan accordingly
If Fano was an Islamic militia, it would have been quickly branded "terrorist" by international powers.
The medieval barbarism by Fano of roasting humans alive or sticking heads on poles is straight out of Islamic State playbook.
Designate Fano a terrorist group now.
Last week we all rejoiced upon hearing the signing of the peace agreement to end the catastrophic war in Tigray. In contrast the the civil war in Oromia has gotten much worse with ever increasing civilian casualties.
Its long overdue that the international community and Ethiopia's leadership focus on the ever worsening situation in Oromia. Warring parties must be pressured not to target civilians and to sit for negotiations. Civilians affected by the war need urgent humanitarian aid .
#Ethiopia'n politician Dawud Ibsa has been under house arrest without being charged since 3 May 2021. The police haven't allowed anyone to enter or leave his residence since - not even to bring food. @MoP_Ethiopia, either charge Dawud or release him now. https://t.co/YPfoWxwmxd
I‘m disappointed PM Abiy has not yet fulfilled his commitments to withdraw Eritrean forces, remove obstacles to humanitarian access, & hold perpetrators of human rights abuses accountable. I’m concerned by atrocities continuing to occur across #Ethiopia—inside & outside of Tigray
