It's weird to be in a place where I love her like family and she loved me like family but "officially" we aren't. The funeral isn't going to be until spring but I need to go, I have to. Nobody will tell us where she's buried if I don't.
I love you and I miss you and I'm sorry.
She's been sick for years; her memory was going for almost as long. I should have called more. I have no excuses beyond a pathetic whimper about burnout + the old trap of thinking there would be more time. The last time we talked was in June and that's going to haunt me forever.
She wasn't my mother, but she was my mom, stepping in early enough that I can't remember a life before her and seeing me through to my teens. When she left my dad that could have been it, but she stayed in touch and she kept giving love and safety through hard times.
Well, it took almost four years for this to "come to fruition", but here I am in a world where the woman who had the biggest role in making me kind and thoughtful where I could have been lost and spiteful is just... Gone
TURNS OUT I WAS ONTO SOMETHING, (fuck)
not now, not immediate future, but got some terrible news over the weekend about the next couple of years. shouldn't have given the universe this chew toy. (fuuuuck)
First tweet in over a year woo~
Cat died last night. That's the last of the 3 old darlings who came with us when we moved to the "new" apartment @ the end of 2018. As predicted, a domino heartbreak; one in July 2022, the next in April this year, & the last yesterday night
Feels less like a death and more like the closing of a chapter, like his presence was an extension of my teenage years and early 20s into my 30s. Like now that he's gone, the me who lived with him and knew him then sort of is, too
And maybe the most immediately and acutely poignant, he was the last. Each loss has been hard, but I've never yet said goodbye to a "last" cat. There's always been at least one other waiting at home, so no need to get rid of the beds, dishes, litter trays, toys, etc
