I’m gutted and baffled. My Galaxy S23 Ultra, touted for its “tough as nails” IP68 water resistance, failed me in a moment that should’ve been nothing. Your response leaves me with more questions than answers, Samsung. How is this making sense?
Picture this: On May 31, 2025, I’m tidying up at home when my S23 Ultra slips from my pocket into a half-full bucket of water. No cracks, no impact—just a quick dip, less than 3 seconds. I trusted your IP68 rating, which promises protection in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. Yet, the phone instantly shut off and never turned back on.
At your authorized Samsung Service Center, I was floored to hear that water had damaged the motherboard, camera, and more. The proposed solution? Pay ₹89,812 for repairs—more than the ₹84,789 a brand-new S23 Ultra costs today. I’ve lost irreplaceable photos, essential documents, and most of all, my confidence in your durability promises.
What truly frustrates me is your response:
“As per discussion over the call, your device has impact damage so it will be considered out of support and the repair will be on a chargeable basis.
Physical damage, impact damage, cosmetic part issues, waterlogging, or liquid damage are not supported. We regret to inform you that we cannot do anything from our side.”
How is this reasonable? There was no visible impact—just a splash. If a phone can't survive a basic water incident that your IP68 rating should cover, what does that rating even mean?
This isn’t just about a phone. It’s about lost memories, broken trust, and a brand failing to stand behind its own claims.
