hari ini, ia menulis opini di Kompas dengan judul "Hutan Rusak, Siapa yang Menanggungnya?" Ia menegaskan:

"Pembangunan sering mencatat dengan cermat apa yang berhasil dibangun, berapa kilometer jalan, berapa banyak investasi, berapa besar produksi dan berapa banyak kawasan yang berkembang."

lalu dilanjutkan:

"Sementara biaya ketika kita gagal menjaga alam jarang dihitung dengan serius, tetapi bukan berarti biaya itu tidak ada. Ia tetap dibayar, hanya oleh orang-orang yang tidak pernah ikut memutuskan, termasuk anak-anak yang kini harus bernapas di tengah asap."

I did not wish to discuss this difficult matter, but I feel compelled to respond to some inaccurate reports regarding the killings of these two individuals from Bangladesh, Nazrul Islam and Sathi Akhtar who both worked for the Bin Laden Company and were cleaners at the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca Mukarramah. The girl resided in Villa Batha Quraish, while the boy lived in Villa Hayy al-Iskan.

During their period of duty, a personal relationship developed between the two, and they engaged in an illicit act inside an isolated room on the stairwell between Gates 85 and 87 of Masjid Al-Haram. Nazrul Islam had reportedly asked a friend of his from India to stand guard below. That individual secretly recorded the incident on video. Later, when his own advances towards the woman were not reciprocated, or consent was not given, he released the video publicly. Following its circulation, the incident came to public attention.

The Saudi authorities were able to arrest all three individuals involved. The young man from India was sentenced to 20 years in prison and remains incarcerated, while the other two were also detained.

Nazrul Islam arrived in Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh between November 10 and 13, 2022. He committed this offense in May 2023, after which he was arrested by the Saudi authorities.

He remained in prison from May 2023 until October 2026. The judicial proceedings in this case continued for nearly three and a half to four years. During this entire period, it is the duty of the Saudi government to inform the sponsor and the concerned company; it is not their duty to notify individuals in other countries.

Many are claiming that the two had simply gone to perform Umrah and only kissed there. All such stories are entirely false and fabricated.

It is true that both were unmarried. But the real question is — if they were unmarried, why were they sentenced to death? The reason is clear: this is Masjid al-Haram.

This case is not merely about the punishment for adultery; it is about the grave violation of the sanctity, honor, and holiness of Masjid al-Haram itself.

For this very reason, and to set an exemplary precedent, the senior judges of the Supreme Court considered the death penalty to be necessary as a deterrent and accordingly pronounced that sentence. This punishment is in full accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah.

What is most astonishing is that even today, we continue to shamelessly circulate falsehoods regarding this matter.

As an Islam believer from The Philippines, it is my responsibility to defend my religion and if you continue spreading lies, Over my dead body! Spread love not hate.
