On 5th July 1977, Pakistan’s democratic history witnessed its darkest day. An elected and constitutional government was overthrown through undemocratic means, bringing an abrupt end to the will of the people.
This day marks the fall of democracy and the imposition of martial law, which not only halted the democratic process but also attacked the Constitution, fundamental rights, and the principles of justice and equality.
Public executions, torture, violence against women and the militarization of ethnofacist groups in Sindh especially became a normal thing in the years that follow.
We pay tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of the Constitution of 1973 and a symbol of the people’s struggle for democracy. His vision of a democratic, progressive, and sovereign Pakistan continues to inspire us.
We didn't just lose a leader; we lost a conscience. May his legacy continue to challenge us all to think beyond ourselves. Thank you for reminding us of the man behind the icon
I continue to see papa on trucks all over Pakistan. People of this generation do not understand the hero we lost. His writing, his thoughts his vision for gender equality, environment, health and education were beyond his time.
The reduction in petrol prices comes as a relief for the people of Pakistan. Fuel hikes means inflation and the people of our country cannot afford to continue to pay high prices for essential goods at salaries that are simply unable to catch up.

Doctors have been demanding safe work conditions for years, including in recent months. And now a lady doctor had acid thrown on her face. Protect doctors, give them a fair pay, place them in merit based positions.
Women in Pakistan are not safe, be they doctors, lawyers, teachers, housewives. The level of hate, entitlement and venom it takes to throw acid on someone’s face should be unimaginable. Sadly it happens everyday.
On World Environment Day, we are reminded that the struggle for a healthy environment is inseparable from the struggle for justice. Climate change, water scarcity, pollution, and environmental destruction disproportionately affect the poor, while those responsible often escape accountability. Protecting our rivers, forests, coastlines, and natural resources is not merely an environmental obligation, it is a responsibility to future generations. The fight for a sustainable future is a fight for human dignity, equality, and survival.
Doctors in Pakistan are suffering tremendously. Rising inflation, low salaries, huge patient loads are all taking a toll on hard working professionals. Our HIV awareness work attacks the system that keeps both doctor and patient in desperate positions.
Eid Ul Adha Mubarak to all Muslims and especially my brethren in Pakistan. May Allah SWT accept your sacrifice.
Today I cannot help but think of the many children in hospitals in Khairpur and larkana who are HIV positive. Remember them in your prayers.
I think of the patients in Punjab who under draconian laws are being isolated unnecessarily. Keep them in your prayers.
A kind word, a warm embrace and sharing a meal are all part of Eid. Do not exclude HIV positive people from this process. HIV cannot be spread through touch, spit or even open wounds.
May Allah bless you all and keep you safe.
Unfortunately HIV takes a toll on the smallest bodies. One young girl, an infant, has died due to HIV and AIDS related complications.
While we want to avoid hysteria but more we know about HIV the better.
The government must release data as public information and begin a radical public service program.
Testing people from village to village and releasing messaging on phones, television and social media to increase awareness. Private individuals can only do so much.
In Khairpur another 25 children and two doctor staff have tested positive for HIV.
In Larkana, eight children are being treated for advanced HIV.
The more testing we do the more we will find out. The more we can save people and put them on life saving ARTs.
