Packed house at the Iowa BEST Summit this morning! Wanted to resurrect this Twitter to connect with others while I’m here. Looking forward to a great couple of days! #IowaBEST2021
@KayAAugustine Very much enjoyed your session on the state’s SEL framework! Thank you for all your work and for sharing the fruits of your labor with us! #IowaBEST2021
Dr. Renee Bradley, @usedgov Office of Special Education Programs, shares how she keeps a domino on her desk as a daily reminder to focus on the smallest thing you can do each day to make the biggest impact. #IowaBEST2021#iaedchat#iaedfuture@uiowa@UIowaEducation
To Be > To Do
Make a To-Be List everyday.
Don't let your to-do list get in the way of your to-be list.
Prioritize your to-be
Kindness is not an act, it's a habit.
ISCA Keynote - @HoustonKraft#ISCA2020Vision
Also, looking forward to @IowaSCAtweets 2020 Virtual Conference tomorrow and Tuesday. Very grateful to @MissSCline and everyone on the ISCA board who worked overtime to make this a quality experience given the unique circumstances! #2020Vision#SchoolCounselorsAreTheFuture
I got to cover for a 5th grade class yesterday and had a fantastic discussion about 9/11. I felt fortunate to be a part of it and hear their insights but MY GOODNESS HOW DO CLASSROOM TEACHERS DO THAT EVERY DAY?! I’m used to 40 minutes at a time!
I also got this thoughtful gift from a student who’s moved on to middle school. I LOVE my job and it’s nice to be reminded that this work is meaningful to others! ❤️
My district is really emphasizing SEL for both staff and students this fall. After leading staff through a module about emotion, a teacher called me on my commute to share how much the training meant to them. Feels SO GOOD to know we’re giving staff what they need! @CPUSchools
Having a hard time with “back to school” this year, like many other educators. Trying to remind myself that optimism sometimes means choosing to do the best I can with the circumstances I’m given.
“Id been stuck in the gap between the way things were and the way things could be. I’d forgotten I had the ability to change that.” Thanks, @thebradmontague for the playful, awe-inspiring reminder to make my Space Jam. Ready to fly this year!
