More than 30 groups are urging the Georgia Public Service Commission to require a detailed plan for how Georgia Power intends to work with customers threatened with disconnections after the moratorium is lifted on July 15th. https://t.co/EqHuJFmbds #noshutoffs
The @GeorgiaPSC is currently set to lift the moratorium on utility shut-offs on July 15th. The PSC will vote on this issue this morning at 9:30am--you can watch live at: https://t.co/TvlGQUI6MO #noshutoffs
Over 30 groups have filed a letter with the Georgia Public Service Commission with serious concerns about the decision to lift the moratorium on utility shut-offs on July 15th, in the middle of summer when electric needs are often highest. #noshutoffs https://t.co/NUseXefuuZ

While Georgia Power has committed to suspend disconnections until the COVID-19 pandemic is over, 60 Georgia groups are asking Governor Kemp to take to take immediate and formal action to ensure Georgians are further protected from utility shut offs: https://t.co/9i7VyhXdDQ
The Georgia Public Service Commission has unanimously passed a resolution continuing the suspension of disconnections for non-payment of customer bills “due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the duration of [the] COVID-19 response.” https://t.co/v6KdOeCTl2
“Customers who earn a fixed or lower income suffer the most from high electric bills,” said Codi Norred, program director for @GeorgiaIPL. “Allowing Georgia Power to increase mandatory fees only makes that burden even greater.”
Yesterday the PSC made its decision on Georgia Power’s proposed fee hike, rejecting the utility’s proposed increase from $10 to $17.95/month but approving a $4 overall increase, with the first $2 increase effective in 2021 and another $2 increase in 2022. https://t.co/CBRGRwIPM9
Tomorrow the Public Service Commission will make a decision whether or not to grant Georgia Power’s proposed mandatory fee hike. Tune in and watch the live stream of the decision after 9:30 AM: https://t.co/NJMPCDlfBA
If Georgia Power’s proposal to nearly double mandatory fixed fees is approved, customers would pay over $215 per year without even flipping on a light switch. The PSC will make a final vote this Tuesday, December 17th.
If approved, Georgia Power’s proposal to nearly double monthly fixed fees that customers must pay would reduce our ability to control our energy costs. It would discourage customers from investing in energy conservation measures and solar power.
