Come to our first on-line meeting of 2023, with Will Snell of the @fairnessfdn "Building a consensus - can we find a shared definition of fairness?" We need a fairer London, how do we get there? @justspace7@centreforlondon@HighPayCentre https://t.co/Cy1kP072iL @Eventbrite
1. I don't recall this ever being front page news..?
Totally and utterly transform this Doom Economy now while it's still too late to protect species and everyone.

Inequitable distribution of income/wealth fuels social unrest.
Richest 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined.
Bottom 50% of the population has less than 5% of wealth.
Wages taxed at higher rates than capital gains.
Change politics.

Companies like ExxonMobil don't want you to know that this summer's brutal heatwave was Brought To You By Big Oil.
So we bought billboards in cities across America to make sure the public knows the truth.

As someone who has campaigned for the Equality Act to protect against class based discrimination, I hope this happens - it would be an important step and people across the country would immediately benefit.
Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.”
It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there.
Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more.
This is new. This is leadership.
Cities are a result of choices.

This is insane. When records are broken it’s usually by a fraction of a degree. It’s not normal for them to be broken - that’s why they are records! Las Vegas just shattered its record temperature not just by 1°F - but by 3°F!! This should be major news. As ever, it won’t be. The public have very little idea of the danger that is growing…
THREAD: Given tomorrow's election, I've been thinking about our nation's (poor) health, the wider determinants of health and how these have worsened and what it means for policy....
TLDR: worrying only about NHS & social care is missing the point
let's dive in... 1/25
The speed at which the impacts of climate and ecological breakdown are playing out far exceeds what scientists had anticipated.
The public, however, is still woefully unaware of how quickly and irreversibly the biophysical basis of our lives and societies is unraveling.

Breaking News!
Code UFB!!!
June, 2024, marked the 13th consecutive month with record breaking global surface temperatures and the 12th consecutive month at or above 1.5°C.
The 365-day running mean remains at a record 1.64°C.
HUMAN EXTINCTION IS NOW ALMOST CERTAIN.
Why?
It is not complicated. Human survival is dependent upon staying under 5C. There is now a tipping point of peer reviewed research papers showing that the rate at which temperatures increase, as more greenhouse gases are emitted under the direction of our elites, has been catastrophically underestimated.
We are heading for 7-13C of additional heating. And yes 7 is bigger than 5.
📢 THE DECLINE AND FALL OF THE UK in one graph ⬇️. A massive hike in #inequality in the 1980s followed by high and entrenched #inequality ever since. No govt - #Tory or #Labour - has made any notable progress in reversing the catastrophic damage of the Thatcher years. @Max12to1

Hi Roger, Tom from @thetimes here. I’m writing a story on #Stonehenge. Do you want to comment for the article?
My reply:
Last month a gathering of the world's leading scientists decided there was a 40% chance of the AMOC current collapsing in the 2030s - which will lead to a 10-30C fall in winter temperatures in the UK - i.e., the permanent inability to grow food at scale and thus mass migration and/or starvation.
As any conservative social Darwinist knows - a society only survives if it can respond and adapt effectively to existential threats - i.e., focus on the message not the messenger.
For further info on AMOC from expert Prof. S. Rahmstorf, Potsdam Inst.
"They show how particularly northern Europe from Britain to Scandinavia would suffer devastating impacts, such as a cooling of winter temperatures by between 10 °C and 30 °C occurring within a century, leading to a completely different climate within a decade or two, in line with paleo climatic evidence about abrupt ocean circulation changes. In addition they show major shifts in tropical rainfall belts. These (and many more) impacts of an AMOC collapse have been known for a long time but thus far have not been shown in a climate model of such high quality."
"Overall the new study adds significantly to the rising concern about an AMOC collapse in the not too distant future. It thus adds even more weight to recent reports sounding strong warning sirens, such as the OECD Climate Tipping Points report of December 2022 and the Global Tipping Points report published December 2023. We will continue to ignore this risk at our peril."

A wealth tax on those with £10m+ would affect only 0.04% of the UK pop’n . Those rich enough to not worry about this tax; regular enough to feel the impact of scant public investment. It’s not a tax that scares ppl away - it’s the state of our country & our shared public services
🚨We will have #Islington GE voting registrations at our #SolidarityHub this week:
