📣 Are you scheduled to work on election day in Ontario?
Ontario's municipal elections 🗳️ are next week: Monday, October 26, 2026.
Workers eligible to vote have the right to 3 consecutive hours off work to vote while polling stations are open. If you work on October 26 and don't have 3 hours off before polling stations close, you must be given paid time off to vote. While this time is typically at the start or end of your shift, your employer may decide which hours you take off to vote.
👉 Be sure to check your local municipal elections website to find out when your polls are open and to find a polling station near you.
Questions about your rights on election day? Call the Workers’ Action Centre at (416) 531-0778 for free and confidential support.

@BradMBradford & other Conservatives only quote the parts of the legislation that suit them. The Water & Wastewater Public Corporations Act lets a WWC issue shares & take on debt. A P3 can be appointed an "agent" to run a WWC & wring private profit out of public infrastructure.

Nobody should be working yet not making ends meet. 🍂
This Thanksgiving, thousands of food hampers will be prepared for workers and their families who are struggling to pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads. We are in a crisis of decent work.
Too many workers are forced into temporary and precarious jobs that don’t have benefits, don’t qualify for Employment Insurance (EI), and sometimes don’t even pay wages! And the Ontario Ministry of Labour is allowing this crisis to persist.
That’s why we’re organizing to build a stronger movement 💪 for decent work to fight collectively for our rights and to make sure the government does its job.

On October 1st, 2026, workers earning Ontario's general #minimumwage will receive a 35¢ increase to $17.95 per hour. But we know this is not enough!
The yearly minimum wage cost of living adjustments we won in 2014 lag behind what workers need, especially as many have their pay stolen by their employers, and our government allows it to happen.
If you are being paid below the minimum wage or are unsure, call the Workers’ Action Centre at (416) 531-0778 for free and confidential support.
A new national survey paints a troubling picture of the pressures facing educators, with 70% reporting they regularly feel overwhelmed and a lack of education assistants identified as a major contributor to burnout.
As OSSTF/FEESO District 11 President John Bernans told the London Free Press:
“The lack of funding has a direct impact on support that students need and resources that teachers rely on every day. Special education students and the professionals who serve them are particularly vulnerable.”
Underfunding has consequences, for students and the qualified professionals who support them every day.

Being paid less than minimum wage? ⚠️ That’s WAGE THEFT! ⚠️
Now that we have a new #minimumwage, here are a few reminders for your next paycheque.
1. Adult employees cannot be paid less than the general minimum wage of $17.95.
2. You cannot sign away your rights.
3. Only young students get paid less than the general minimum wage ($16.90).
4. Minimum wage applies to all workers, regardless of immigration status.
If you think you are experiencing wage theft or are unsure, 📞 call the Workers’ Action Centre at (416) 531-0778.
National Director Marty Warren on proposed changes to the Canada Labour Code:
“Workers built this country, and workers will build what comes next. Canada cannot build a stronger economy by weakening the fundamental rights of the people who make our economy work.”
No, Minister. We don’t want corporations in our public education system. Hard stop.
Public education should serve students not corporate interests. Our schools are a public good, not a marketplace. #osstf#ontpoli#onpoli
