🔥 Workers in Ontario are rising up. Join us!
The Workers’ Action Centre connects with new workers every day, so it’s an opportune time to (re)introduce ourselves for those new and old.
💪 We’re a worker-led organization, building a movement for #DecentWork in Ontario and #StatusForAll.
“If my boss stole $5,000 from me, it will take a year [to file a claim], and there’s a good chance the Ministry of Finance will not recover that money.”
$200 million was stolen from workers' pockets over the past decade in Ontario, and we know this is just a fraction of the total amount. The Minister of Labour has enabled this crisis, allowing over $80 million to go uncollected.
We need real enforcement and protections for workers to stop bad bosses from stealing from workers in the first place!
We need to #StopWageTheft now.

“It’s very easy for employers to just disappear.” — @GhadaaSharif (@TorontoStar) on why some workers never see what they’re owed. How widespread is wage theft in Ontario? Tonight at 8pm with @jared_ong (@WorkersAC) and @JeyanTVO | Producer: Mike Attenborough
Today is #PersonalSupportWorkerDay, a day to honour the workers who care for our families and communities.
Canada has a care crisis, and migrants are part of the solution. We need #StatusForAll to strengthen rights, protections, and working conditions across the sector ❤️🩹⚕️✊

Here are three more signs your boss might not be paying you all that you are owed!
We need to change our labour laws to make sure all of us are protected on the job. Get involved in the Workers’ Action Centre Stop Wage Theft campaign so we can collectively fight for stronger legislation and better enforcement. Together, we can put an end to wage theft!

“I wish that this were a rare situation, but these struggles are shockingly common in Ontario…The Ontario government has not made stopping #wagetheft a priority.”
🚨 Sunrise Caribbean, pay your workers. Ministry of Labour, do your job! 🚨
13 former employees, owed nearly $115,000 in wages plus $133,000 in damages — and yet they have received nothing. Even with a ruling by the Ministry of Labour, the Ontario government has shown their priorities. It’s time we changed this!
