Another year of recognizing the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. This year I visited every class teaching about the 4 medicines in the Medicine Wheel. Students learned about the significance of each and smelled the beautiful, calming scent of smudge washing over them.
On Friday, Sept. 29, we gathered for a Student of the Month assembly to recognize students who demonstrated ‘respect’. Students also wore orange on this day to remember the children who never made it home, and the ongoing trauma of residential schools on families today.

Our students ran for Terry or someone they know battling cancer right now in the Terry Fox run on Sept. 23rd. It was so nice seeing everyone out there showing their support and raising awareness.
Students in Ms. Luborsky’s Grade 6 class are engaged in an inquiry to design a more environmentally friendly and sustainable space for the community in the Hydro Corridor at Pharmacy & McNichol.
Ms. Luborsky’s class learns about and reflects on MMIWG (Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls) on May 2, 2022. More must be done to being attention to this issue.

Ms. Cutting’s Gr. 1/2 students are learning about Indigenous perspectives and the many types of ‘beings’. All beings are equal to each other including human, and no one being is more important than another as we all fulfill an important role in keeping Mother Earth in balance.
