India re-write the record books and create HISTORY by winning the Badminton Asia Women’s Team Championships #BATC2024.
What a remarkable set of results: -
⏺️ Gold having never previously medalled in this event.
⏺️ Champions when not even one of the 4 seeded teams at the event.
⏺️ Beat the top 3 seeded teams on the way to winning Gold: –
the number 1 seeds China🇨🇳 in the Group stage (3-2),
the number 2 seeds Japan🇯🇵 in the semi-final (3-2),
the number 3 seeds Thailand🇹🇭 in the final (3-2).
⏺️ The 17 year old Anmol Kharb @Kharb_Anmol who played the third WS, won those three 5th and deciding matches when only playing in her second ever senior international event!

On the left, when numbers mattered&Roger was celebrated as *the* GOAT based on his numbers.
On the right, when Roger was overtaken, numbers stopped mattering, words changed meaning,GOAT became a matter of opinion,my goat, your goat, many goats.😜😂
Pundits do it,not just Lindsay.🙄
How anyone thinks Roger Federer is class remains beyond my comprehension. From his days in juniors when his father had to threaten to take him out of tourneys because of his bratty behavior to this interview to the man who gave the supremely absurd and ungracious USO 2011 presser, the guy is the definition of stiff, malignant hauteur. Absolutely the worst.
He and Nadal are toxic creations of sponsors like Nike and the ATP itself, aided by the army of dominant Western journos who gladly reinforced the worst of tennis’s roots in snobbery and elitism. They were surrounded by a court of jesters willing to fawn and by association, both of them went soft and stopped growing, stopped evolving, and became incapable of self-examination or healthy critique.
What’s unfortunate is that the nearest previous eras—the ones that saw Sampras and Agassi, Becker and Edberg, McEnroe and Connors as chief rivalries and superstars—were *not* characterized by such chilly European woodenness and nasty noblesse oblige. They were more likeable, more approachable, and more like athletes—the highs and lows, the effort and cost visible, the flaws part of the magic. They were humans…much more like Djokovic, tbh.
When Federer was coronated with that absolutely ridiculous piece about him being a “religious experience” (itself still the jewel in the canon of his cult like a holy manifesto) I knew the sport was in trouble. It was a fanatical browbeating, a demand that the rest of the world experience him in a consensus way, everyone had to agree: the Jesus of Tennis. But he was and remains an idol with no soul. Empty and remote, even in his most melodramatic displays (AO 2009). Always his tears and his triumphs were about his own high estimation of *himself*. Imperious, ungenerous with others—especially players who beat him. His fans look like sad fools…fawning and slightly cross-eyed. He wouldn’t open a door for any of them, but they don’t care about his cold indifference.
And now Nadal is nearly as bad. Bitter, disheveled, vaguely distracted in all recent interviews as if nagged by what he finally understands won’t change: his mythology was manufactured by those around him, and he was bested and beaten.
The only thing that doesn’t lie are results. Team 8, Uncle Toni, Godsick, Nike…the Dicksons and Bodos and Riggs and Laws and Stubbs and Rothenbergs…none of them can spin the truth away: and Federer and Nadal know it. They’re also-rans now, just exceptional players who came up short. 22 and 20. Negative h2hs. Way fewer Big Titles.
And they were bested by someone they allowed their own inflated and deluded self-estimations (pumped up by their flatterers) to underestimate until it was too late.
They deserve their fate. It’s perfectly fitting.
@Anthony606061@VissTerro@pavyg@AustralianOpen I genuinely feel for Zverev, especially considering the off court witch hunt. However, I'm a Nole girl and as long as he is playing, it's Nole for me all the way!
