Reduce, Reuse Recycle! Do you have lots of these lying around at home? If so, we can reuse them in the science department. Do you bit for the environment and donate to avoid plastic waste. #FairviewFutureReady
Year 7 were demonstrating some excellent skills in collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving yesterday while researching the surface of the moon.
What happens when an asteroid hits the moon? Year 7 carried out an investigation in to what kind of surface the moon has and how craters were formed. It was very dramatic!
Pupils in the third year of the MYP programme have been looking at how important it is to select materials with the right properties for the job. This is work inspired by the structure of the atom (electron fishing anyone?) and states of matter (aka Ice Cube the supervillain!).
Here's a bit of a montage of what Year 7 have been up to this quarter, where we have focused on how forces impact our daily lives in Science and different ways of presenting data in Maths. We all enjoyed taking time out to take part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch
This quarter Year 7 have been looking at forces. They are currently finishing up looking at the role of parachutes within the context of the recent landing of Perseverance on Mars by researching and designing parachutes. #scienceinreallife#skills
As we fly towards the Easter break, I've been reflecting on the fabulous work and achievements of the students in MYP Science and Maths during this Quarter whilst working remotely; with work ranging from bird watching to electron fishing. Keep your eyes peeled for a montage!!
I read with my children every night, itβs something we love to do together. I love to read but donβt get much time during term time as Iβm usually reading textbooks so bedtime reading with my kids is extra special.
These are some of my favourite books - Ms. Lorna #WorldBookDay
We might mostly be at home, but Yr 7 Science have been on an adventure, trying to stop their boats from sinking while learning about forces. Anybody else trying not to sing the Jaws theme and shout "we're going to need a bigger boat"?
It's all about that base, and the acid! This week we are learning about acids and bases in Year 7 Science. Today we created pH scale rainbows whilst learning about the effect of dilution on pH, and yesterday we made our own pH indicator using red cabbage.
