How do families know that our children are growing academically and gaining on time proficiency? Transparent data sharing! The data-cycle should include consistent dialogue with parents about growth and gain. It should include action planning with parents. #Growth#Gain#Data
Yes we had a great day! Thank you Senate President Coleman @ColemanforCO for your hospitality! Our 15 Educator Pillars were honored to be your guests. Thank you to Rep. Mandy Lindsay who hosted 10 of our SHIFT Fellows on the House floor. They had an amazing learning experience. More to come! #DoJustice
It’s Thursday! What is your commitment today to DO JUSTICE? When you consider the current realities that we are living in, how will you show up today? How will you not only demand JUSTICE but deliver JUSTICE for students who seem to be pawns in the continuous cycle of adult bickering and bargaining? Today is the day! DO JUSTICE!! @FaithBridgeCO@NMartinez_CO@TEN_Colorado@ChalkbeatCO@DenverGazette@denverfamilies
FaithBridge Family Advocacy Day - https://t.co/tNb3vsUOb3

Folks have been using our language around education deserts in CO. The question before us is do folks really want to eliminate education deserts now or are folks going to be complicit in maintaining the conditions that keep the problem in place and therefore tell the same communities to wait? No waiting. DO JUSTICE! NOW!! @NMartinez_CO@ColemanforCO@McCluskieforCO@GovofCoEspanol@GovofCO@baconforco@LindsGilchrist
If you think that the solution is making the same children, in the same families, in the same communities wait longer, you didn’t hear what we said. No waiting. DO JUSTICE now! It’s still true. “Justice delayed is justice denied.” Don’t tell me you are for students and righting historical and present wrongs when WAIT is your default. We know about wait. Tell’em Dr. King….. “For years now I have heard the word "Wait!" It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This "Wait" has almost always meant "Never." Yep. That part. We aren’t here for more cycles of never. DO JUSTICE NOW!! @CASBConnect@CASE_Leaders@ColoradoEA @DenverTeachers Come break bread with community. #DoJustice
Another research project or study will not eliminate the injustices. Another report will not remedy the ongoing painful predicaments that people are living in. Another whitepaper will not liberate folks from the imposed social caste system.
Think about it. How much more pain on paper do we need to see before people get serious about moving purposefully to rid ourselves of the injustices?
Let’s write new chapters, no, write new books, not continue the same narratives and story lines.
How about folks stop saying “we’re studying it” and start saying that “together we are solving for and eliminating it.”
What can be, should be, will be! #DoJustice
How about this….folks quit spending millions researching the impacts of continuing injustices and instead resource the work of the people on the ground who work daily to transform lives and communities to eliminate the injustices (risk factors).
The continuing research is heavily funded to look into the harm done and the work to actually remedy the harm gets crumbs, a piece of the slice, not the pie.
We aren’t lab rats. No disrespect to lab rats, but see us! Respect our equal humanity. Resource the work to eliminate the injustices, not to write and publish another report, that will say what we already know!
Injustices impede the individuals right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Fund us fully, at the same level and length that you have funded the research on us, so that we can keep changing the painful realities of persistent injustices! #DoJustice
Support great work in the community that is advancing the good! We appreciate your ongoing support that helps us to co-create the conditions where children will live well and realize their hopes!! #givingtuesday Support here https://t.co/T6z5FfszNw
School closures and transitions are hard. Lived it as a parent and as a school leader. You know what’s harder? Keeping schools open that you know aren’t providing equitable support, expanded opportunities, and excellent student outcomes. It’s not because some schools aren’t trying. It’s often because the conditions don’t able them to fully be all that they need and want to be. Been there. So you have to co-create the conditions and that often requires hard choices that acknowledge that staying in current state will never realize what we owe all children. They deserve to live well and realize their hopes. Period. Inform your emotions with that perspective. Yes it is hard. Yes it sucks. Yes we don’t want to go through it. But, the real question before us is this, do we want to fail children so adults can be comfortable? Children deserve to live well and realize their hopes. That’s our decision making true north!! It’s our obligation to co-create these conditions so that it is realized everywhere!! #livewell #realizehopes #moralimperative #uncomfortableadults @dps_k12@FaithBridgeCO@aurorak12@schoolbpartners@boardhawk@ColemanforCO@baconforco@DPSDirectorE@DrOlson4DPS@DrAlexMarrero
