We have been saying this to governments since 2008! Why are they unwilling or unable to build up the commuity resources to address this root cause of ER overcrowding and sub-standard patient care.
@trclosson@fordnation and the Ontario Ministry of Health only funds hospices at 50%. Each hospice in Ontario has to rely on fund-raising and community support. Contributors often want to target equipment or specific projects for their donations, but that doesn't pay for staff or overhead.
#DYK that Ontario has 25 Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics (NPLCs) currently serving over 100,000 previously orphaned Ontarians?
Find an NPLC near you by visiting: https://t.co/lAcvvoVKSg
Increasing the # of NPLCs will ensure all Ontarians have access to primary care
@trclosson@raghu_venugopal There are also too few hospice beds, and the Ontario MoH only funds 50% of operating costs for hospices. The remaining funds have to be raised in the community. This is a travesty.

RN: No but they can put their name on the wait list.
Me: How long is that?
RN: About 4yrs.
What?

Medical Anesthesiologists in Canada have been opposed to the Canadian healthcare system employing Nurse Anesthesiologists in independant practice like they do in the USA. This is one solution to this shortage that you don't mention @carlyweeks .
