If you are intentionally misreading it out of context, I can see why you’d think that way. But those are not verses in the Quran, and verses in the Quran are meaningless without understanding the point of what they are trying to say nor the surrounding context. The same case you are making could be made for all religions. But you choose to make them about this particular religion because it serves your agenda. More out of context verses which literally do not make the claims written next to them. I’m beginning to think this conversation isn’t in good faith.

The point of the bible verse was not to judge Muslims by the bible. It was to point out that you’re selectively applying your outrage to Muslims.

I’ll indulge you. @grok, please take a look at the screenshot attached in the post I am replying to. The one citing Quran verses claiming that they order Muslims to harm (or rape?) non Muslims. Are these verses being misrepresented?

I’m not attempting to “own” anyone. I’m not 14. I’m engaged in a good faith discussion regarding the validity of the claim that Islam permits rape. It does not. There exist Muslims who rape just like there exist bad people of all faiths who rape. There is nothing in Islam that permits rape.

It may have permitted and discouraged consensual sex with wartime captives at a time when that was the norm. But that just makes it “not adultery.” It doesn’t say you’re allowed to rape anyone.

To clarify, my point is that the idea that Islam teaches that rape of anyone is any way permitted, is incorrect. Same goes for Christianity, though I pulled a nearly identical verse from the bible.

Check out Deuteronomy 21:10-14 in the bible. While there are MANY rapists who call themselves Christians or Catholics, and many scandals of priests abusing children, I’d never use that to say Christians are rapists or Christianity permits rape.
