California has been a slow-counting state for years for reasons that are largely structural:

—Massive population (tens of millions of voters).
—Heavy reliance on mail ballots.
—Signature verification requirements.
—Ballots that arrive after Election Day but were postmarked on time.
—Provisional ballots that require additional review.
—State laws that prioritize counting every valid ballot rather than producing instant results.

None of these facts are new. Republicans have complained about California’s counting speed for years, but the same delays occurred when Republicans won races vs. when Democrats won races.

California’s slow vote count is not evidence of corruption or cheating. It’s the predictable result of the same election procedures the state has used for years.

Trump accusing his political opponents of election fraud without evidence every time votes take time to count is incredibly dangerous, irresponsible, and corrosive to public faith in democracy.
