I don’t doubt that a new rec center could make sense at some point and that there may be real benefits to it. But, there are a few reasons why this whole thing is bizarre and, likely, disingenuous...

Plan calls for “no more than $260 student fee per semester.” Really? When cost overruns for new center happen (and they will), will we stop construction and leave a half finished building? Or will admin raise fees/tuition to finish the thing? Guessing the latter #ReCreateWright

I mean, can you name another expenditure close to this magnitude that @wrightstate has put to student vote? This whole thing is so Admin will have something to tell @MaxFilby to justify expenditure and inevitable cost overruns #ReCreateWright

If students voted for a plan to lower @wrightstate tuition, would the admin go along with that? Two word answer: “Hell” and “No” This is a CYA move by admin for dropping millions $$$$ in the face of screaming poverty and cutting of salaries/benefits #ReCreateWright

This “we’ll build a new rec center if students vote for it!” Is not regular order. Why is @wrightstate abdicating responsibility 4 huge financial liability after it endured a strike (and guaranteed enrollment decimation) because they were screaming poverty? #ReCreateWright
