It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
Dear @FAAN_Official, apart from the alleged actions of the pilots which the NCAA is dealing with, there are various questions for you and Aviation Security to answer.
Why was KWAM1 allowed to pass through security screening with the alleged alcoholic liquid in the first place?
When he allegedly refused to drop the liquid, why was he allowed to refuse?
Having allegedly refused, why was he allowed to pass through the boarding gate in the first place?
Having passed through the boarding gate, why was he allowed to set foot on the aircraft at all?
Having allegedly spilt the liquid on aircraft personnel, why was he not immediately arrested?
If, having been removed from the aircraft, he allegedly moved to the front of the plane and refused to leave, why was he not immediately arrested and forcibly removed?
These possible multiple failures by Aviation Security pose a great danger to passengers. Someone could have carried a much more dangerous substance than alcohol in a similar manner. People cannot be allowed to refuse to obey security protocols., no matter who they are.
I trust that you will address these issues as part of your investigations.
Thank you.
- With 80% of its 28,454 square kilometers of land being arable, Oyo State should be a leading producer of food in the country with a “production” minded governor.
- The best mango in Nigeria is arguably from Ogbomosho and more than half of it gets wasted annually. Poor leadership.
- Oyo’s cashew has a huge potential to earn the state millions of dollars annually if they have an exchange that off-takes it from the farmers.
- The state has enough proximity to Lagos and with proper leadership, their farmers should not have any problem for market.
People like this will be campaigning across the country with the consumption-to-production mantra while they waste their time in office doing absolutely nothing because they do not have the creativity required to drive it.
Tueh.
It took me years to finally be able to share publicly that I was born with Sickle Cell. Over the last 2 years I have spoken about this disease during my performances but I realise that more needs to be done.
Every year over 100,000 children are born with Sickle Cell in Nigeria alone. Sickle Cell has no cure, it is highly under researched because it largely affects West Africans.
This weekend was very emotional for me, met children living with the disease, spoke with parents who are finding it hard to cope amidst the economic crisis in the country.
Thank you to @samiupdate and @sicklecellfoundationng for the work you are doing.
I am inspired by the touching stories and encounters I had last weekend and I want to ensure that all the independent organisations doing the vital work, outreach and research needed to fight Sickle Cell receive the resources and support that they desperately need.
To my Champions, if I can do it, you can do it too.

INVESTIGATION: Independent findings by #TheICIR show that the killing of the 17 soldiers in the Okuama community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta was due to a feud between an illegal oil bunker, Endurance Okodeh, alias Amangbein, and a sophisticated cartel of powerful illegal oil bunkers.
The ICIR investigation further unmasked how the leader of the cartel, ex-militant leader Government Ekpemukpolo alias Tompolo, who operates a private security company, in a bid for total control of the creeks of the Niger Delta, earlier warned Amangbein, who is an ally of a sitting governor in one of the Niger-Delta States, to stay off illegal oil business, a development the latter saw as oppression.

As a statistician, it is extremely frustrating to me to see an account called “World of Statistics” with over 1.5M followers spreading this pseudoscientific garbage.
Statistics requires us to think critically about our data. This is *not* statistics.

In case you are wondering what reading 157 books in a year looks like, here is a visual.
Back in 2020 I read 157 books, for 2022 I read 100 books.
How much reading did you get done this year?
In 1922, neighbours heard screams coming from a house in the affluent LA area of Layfette Park. When the police arrived, they found Fred Oesterreich dead & his wife Dolly locked inside in a closet. They were certain Dolly had done it, but they had no idea how.

Let’s start a challenge. Till the end of the year. We are deliberately speaking positively. Everyday deliberate positive words, thoughts and actions. There’s nothing to lose.
The last time we all watched a video of the Nigerian anthem, soldiers shot at the unarmed civilians who sang it. Tobi Amusan’s extraordinary victory also reminds us of our collective loss: what is possible but too often made impossible by our leaders.
