@PronouncedHare You are in a prison of your own creation if you take comfort in decline. There is always much to fight for & much to preserve for those with courage & spirit - this is the way it has always been & will be. Shoulder-shrugging resignation has never done much for humankind.
“If you wake at midnight, and hear a horse's feet,
Don't go drawing back the blind, or looking in the street;
Them that ask no questions isn't told a lie.
Watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by!”
It happens so slowly at first, that creep from summer to autumn.
A brush of gold within the green here and there, flecks where the sun has lingered longest on the leaves.
Mists drifting over the fields and trees, with a hush that seems to soak up all sounds.
And a little chill in the morning air, a damp softness in the earth underfoot.
Day by day it multiplies as we spin on, this casual magic that repeats and returns, year on year, whether we stop to notice it or not.
