🌟 WLC Social Media Takeover 🌟
Hi everyone! Our names are Kamie Helmke and Briley Junker. We are soon-to-be juniors at A-P H.S. We recently returned from Washington D.C. for National FFA’s Washington Leadership Conference! We left Monday, June 15th, and returned Saturday, June 20th. We wanted to share some highlights from our experience!
Day 1: We met our charter bus in Ames, picked up other groups from around the state, and started our trip east!
Day 1.5: Played Among Us at 2 a.m. with new friends on the bus…what else would an FFA trip be?
Day 2: We arrived in D.C., got settled, and started meeting new people. We signed the “Bill of Rights,” agreeing to follow expectations (or take a quick flight home at our own expense!). Our room arrangements helped us build friendships with people we may not have met otherwise. We ended the day with group sessions and met our community groups for the week.
Day 3: We spent the day in leadership workshops focused on personal growth. We reflected on who we are, what matters to us, and how we can use those ideas to serve our communities. We ended the day touring memorials through a night tour.
Day 4: We visited the Capitol and met with Iowa’s delegation, including Senator Grassley, Senator Ernst, and Congressman Feenstra’s representatives. We discussed agricultural issues including E15 and carbon pipelines.
Day 5: We packaged over 10,000 meals as a service project and focused on daily reflection. We learned the importance of knowing where we come from and remembering to “be where your feet are.” We also visited Arlington National Cemetery to honor those who served before us.
Day 5.5-6: We loaded the bus, drove through the night, and made it back to Butler County! We returned with new friendships, memories, a desire to serve, and some really good fudge too 🙂.
A huge thank you to the A-P FFA Alumni and Supporters for making this experience possible! They covered more than half of our costs and helped make this opportunity affordable. Thank you for investing in us and helping us grow as leaders!
Thanks for reading more about our WLC experience!

HELP NEEDED!
Do you know of anyone who is a graduate of Parkersburg High School from 1949-1955 and was in FFA?
We are looking for any contact person we could reach in order to find a "Beaver Valley FFA" jacket. Beaver Valley was the name of the original charter dating back to 1944.
If you see any familiar names from the group pictures below, please let us know and we will reach out to folks and their families to see if they still have a jacket in their ownership!
We understand ahead of time that the age makes the availability of this jackets rare. But we want to try to obtain this awesome piece of chapter memorabilia to display forever!
