but this fingering business was too dang catchy + when I casually said “let’s not call it that” they started saying it MORE

So I threw in a real stern “NO. MORE.” + clipped a few kids down so we good now

we do this thing in phonics called “finger tapping” where we tap out the sounds in a word with our fingers…

anyway my first graders started calling it “fingering” today.
