The idea of repressed memories and dissociative/trauma-induced amnesia being fake immediately discredits no small amount of the trauma-based disorders found in the DSM-V too, which it wouldn't surprise me if that was part of the point.

Her father created the "False Memory Syndrome Foundation" which is as disgusting as it sounds and advocates that repressed memories, dissociative amnesia, and trauma-induced amnesia all don't exist and anyone who claims to have any repressed memories is lying or being misled.

guys this is so wild. okay. the term DARVO was invented by a psychologist named jennifer freyd. when freyd was in her 30s she uncovered repressed memories of being sexually abused as a child by her father. her parents responded to this by founding a nonprofit whose entire goal was to discredit the concept of recovering repressed memories and basically gaslight abuse victims at scale

also her father is peter freyd, as in the mathematician and category theorist peter freyd, which is just so insane as someone who studied category theory

Some of NBD'S members were proven to have cheated in FRU. Maybe they didn't cheat this time but their past choices don't just go away and it's fairly reasonable to wonder if their clear this time was vanilla or not, but I hope they didn't cheat. I hope nobody cheated.
