Financial literacy starts early. It was great to join the Healthier Kids Foundation for their Financial Health for Youth Symposium and Open House.
The Foundation does important work removing barriers to health, learning, and life success for Silicon Valley youth — and bringing financial education into that mission is a meaningful extension of that work. “We like the idea of pre-paid cards that we can load in a primary fund and distribute to youth either weekly or even daily. We have tried a few companies in the past [for our at-risk youth program], but they have limits on number of cards per “family” or Venmo, for example, youth have to have a separate cell phone number to be able to have a Teen Account. Some of our youth are too young to be able to have a cell phone.
