They achieved it through expertise. Studios didnt cycle through devs, outsource away jobs. If they outsourced it was for gruntwork. People were allowed to build their skills over multiple decades and perfect their craft.

The limitations imposed on developers by hardware inspired creativity to achieve the vision with very sparse resources.

Im more impressed with a game thats 32MB that makes me feel something than one thats 250GB.

Graphical fidelity is a scam in gaming and needs to stop being the focus. GPUs should be there to make your experience smoother, not be the reason devs need to crank out more fidelity.
You could cap gaming to PS3/Xbox360’s best possible graphics and we could fix the whole thing.

Not because they learned. They spent 1.2 Billion on development, they dont have the wiggle room to pay celebrities a cut of the skins.
