@whophd Yeah it does, but I don’t think the Tesla app refreshes in the background.

In the next update for Powerwall Monitor I’ll add a button so you can see the log file the app keeps which should tell us what’s going on. It will show any errors during refresh, etc.

@whophd As long as you’re using the app, and haven’t turned off background refresh, it should be updating on it’s own pretty regularly. I’ll have to look at the code to see if there’s possibly a bug in there somewhere. Working on a big update at the moment, so will do some testing.

@whophd Oh, I see what you’re saying. So the app opens with old data then refreshes to new data? That all works but you’re wondering why it loads with data so old at the start?

@whophd I think from memory the widget data and the app data aren’t shared (though I’d have to check), but either way, that doesn’t sound right. It should be at most every hour. Are you still on a beta version of iOS or have you switched to a released one?

@whophd I suspect it would eventually time out, but not really sure.

Alternatively: don’t put a passcode on the iPad, then it’s very easy to get back in just by tapping on it.

Also pro tip: don’t have it on charge 24/7 it will die much quicker. I have mine hooked up to a timer.

@whophd The annoying thing about Apple’s widget framework is it’s not real time. So they update roughly every 15-30m depending on various factors. Apart from that it should work.

I actually have an iPad mini mounted on my wall for stuff like that. Lights, air con, shopping list, power.

@whophd Yeah I did wonder if they’d clamped the wrong wire or something…but I’m not an electrician. Glad to hear the widgets appeared 🎉

@whophd Could be a beta bug, but also try this for a weird fix: install or delete another app that has widgets. It might get the phone to reindex the other apps again?

@whophd It should look like the attached pic, weird. What version of iOS are you running?

@whophd The home screen and lock screen widgets should be listed under “Powerwall Monitor” if you try and add a new widget to either area. If you don’t see them, try rebooting your phone.

As for off grid that does look like a bug. I might have to try that button here. Never done it b4.

If you’re having issues with our watch complications not updating, try rebooting the watch. So far that seems to have fixed it for everyone who has reported the issue. We’ll keep an eye on it but so far it appears to be a once off watchOS 9 glitch.

@dew1803 It was designed as a menu bar app so probably not, that said you should in theory be able to install the iOS version on your Apple Silicon device? That might give you what you want.

There seems to be a change with Tesla’s login process that’s broken our Powerwall Monitoring apps.

If you’re currently signed in, it should still work, but if you need to sign back in (or for the first time) the app shows no data. Looking into this issue now.

@aminamat Not currently but being able to have it run without the menu bar is a cool idea, we’ll consider it.
