@Gallyspurs @warren00824623 I had to sign on a couple of years ago. I was single at the time, no dependents and renting probably one of the cheapest rooms in Brighton. After paying rent and bills I had roughly £90 a month left to live on. What a lifestyle it was!
@CClwyd@ScotExpress Leonard Cohen, in his later years, included fantastic singers in his live bit to do the bits he knew he couldn't do justice to anymore. Think there's probably a good lesson in that about accepting your limitations and adapting
@neilmacadee @360Art_Design @JamesHarrisNow Well, maybe you're right. But it's difficult to overlook their current actions and just trust what they might do. But my point is still that they are far from courting the left wing vote. As I said, I'm just moderately left I'd say and I feel like he doesn't want my vote
@neilmacadee @360Art_Design @JamesHarrisNow I don't think that's true. There's so many things I could point to but to take the most recent - why white to abstain on a vote for free school meals for kids whose parents are on benefits?
@360Art_Design @JamesHarrisNow I'm not disputing that a lot of people didn't like Corbyn. But what does that have to do with starmer's approach to the left? I'm saying it's silly to say 'look at these lefties refusing to support Starmer' when Starmer seemingly doesn't want their support.
@360Art_Design @JamesHarrisNow Even if I accept that as true (which I don't), it's not relevant to what I'm saying. I'm saying that Starmer has abandoned the left, so why do people expect the left to support him?
@JohnJCrace Depressing to see that every candidate's tactic is basically 'hey guys. I'm not one of those stuffy old teachers. Mr. Tugenhat is my father. Call me Tom. Now, has anyone heard of a little band called The Beatles? Hancock, go and fetch the guitar'
@quantick Imagine how accurate the episode (rise of the nutters?) where they're scrambling around trying to get a replacement to lead the coup is today?
@BlueCrayon77@chatabix1 Great! I was trying to find out where it was going in Bristol. The watershed is a result! Do you know how long it'll be showing for?
Also @chatabix1, my partner's just given her dad a kidney and she says laughing hurts. How many paracetamols out of 5 would TV Joe give it?
@KeithAdamTaylor @LenP91535865@Otto_English At this stage, I'll genuinely be surprised if he manages to reduce the majority. The red wall isn't coming back at the next GE, regardless of brexit. He's all but told the left to p*ss off. And now he's alienating the middle-class, pro-EU centrists. Who's left?
@Otto_English Those of us on the left often get shouted down for pointing to the dishonesty in his leadership bid. But the point here, if we're to believe this is some sort of very sensible political strategy, is why would brexiteers believe him? At best it's naïve
Presumably, former chief whip Gavin Williamson got his ridiculous knighthood for keeping schtum about the extra-marital blow job that is now public knowledge anyway. What an utterly appalling shambles our country has become.
