Of course, that’s only the MINIMUM requirement. For example, all of my important documents (birth certificate, immigration docs, etc.) are copied to:
- Encrypted zip on cloud storage
- On a DVD + flash drive in a fire chest
- On a DVD + flash drive in safe deposit box

Good point!
DO NOT CONSIDER SOMETHING TO BE DURABLY STORED unless it’s stored with at least:
- 3 copies total
- 2 types of storage media
- 1 offsite copy
A local working copy, a local backup, and a cloud backup minimally meet this requirement!

So what do you do with critical things? Burn them to disc!
A Blu-ray burner (same price range as DVD, so go Blu-ray), and either:
- BD-R discs
- DVD-R discs labeled "Azo" OR "Archival Grade" OR "M-Disc"
from Verbatim.
DVD-R ≠ DVD+R.
Never use CD-R either.

RIP David Lynch (1946-2025)
I am in utter disbelief right now... Can't accept that he is no more... I don't have the words to describe how I feel.
We will never ever see anyone like him ever again..
Here is his advice to youngsters.
I can’t think of anything more appropriate for this moment of shared grief over the loss of David Lynch than his Log Lady introductions. Catherine Coulson said it best: “One day, the sadness will end.”
