Typing up my list right now. 🥰
Recovering from C*vid took up most of September so I am a little behind.
I've been logged out of Twitter b/c I was tired of the unnecessary drama I constantly see. protecting my mental health 😌
But I will be back occasionally to update The Thread
September is here & it's time to implement my plans to stay as balanced as possible this winter.
Depression tightens its grip the longer winter lasts, & I'm not sure I can survive another winter like last.
With planning I hope to alleviate even some of the darkness this year 💗
“Rewiring your mind w truth” isn’t possible unless your body senses enough safety to process words. Trauma isn’t healed thru applying the Word of God like a bandage. It’s healed by receiving the compassionate Presence of the Word-Made-Flesh in real people attuned to our distress.
Don’t pit the Word of God against the Word-Made-Flesh. It’s a false dichotomy that damages real human beings who deserve the dignity of kindness and safety in their experience of pain and post-traumatic stress.
The Word of God is a wonder. And so is the presence of compassion.

Talk to your kids about intrusive thoughts. They’re more common than you may realize, and they can be disturbing and scary. Kids don’t know what they are, and they aren’t likely to share they are having them. I cannot even begin to tell you the relief upon learning what they are-
It's so lovely to be outside the coffee shop waiting for my coffee order (thanks @annie_hawthorne ) and hear a Bald Eagle screech while fishing out over the channel 🦅🐟
@schuylermc1 Yeah....Martha Finlay presenting grooming as a Good Thing 😬🤢
Alas, back in the day those wretched books did not help my little self who was already struggling with scrupulosity 🙄
I think reading even a portion of them now would require blood pressure meds.
The Red Dress was a 13 year project that involved 343 embroiderers in 46 different countries. Each artist was encouraged to create a work that expressed their own cultural heritage. The idea was conceived by artist Kirstie Macleod.
Friendly reminder for Christians that worshiping God doesn’t mean worshiping the Bible. Sometimes we elevate the Word of God over being able to trust the One who spoke it, and as a trauma-informed therapist I can tell you this: trust is built on safety, which is often non-verbal.
