I had engagements with the Chairman of the South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement(SPLM) Ugandan Chapter, and one thing was clear South Sudan and Uganda are not just connected by history, but by everyday life.
For many Ugandan youth, it means early mornings loading goods, crossing borders to trade, sustaining families. In West Nile, livelihoods depend on that movement. In Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, South Sudanese youth are doing the same hustling, learning, building something for themselves. They are part of our communities and our economy.
Through my work in Yumbe with @BetterLife_Int , I’ve seen how climate change, food, income, and stability are all connected and they don’t stop at borders.
So this engagement was simple: How do we support what young people are already doing?
How do we include them in peace and stability conversations?
How do we turn this into real opportunity?
As the @NYCofUganda , that is our responsibility.

Nearly a year ago I started my research around the green economy funded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University across Shanghai, Yiwu & Guangzhou.
I’m back to conclude my research on China’s green economy examining clean energy deployment, circular production systems, and what these lessons mean for scaling locally-led climate solutions in Africa through @BetterLife_Int
