India: there are now eight states offering free bus travel to women. Tamil Nadu joined Punjab, Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the Daily Pioneer reports today. The scheme covers hundreds of millions of journeys a year.
Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh city (population 14 million) has added the metro to a fare-free scheme that already covers its entire bus network. The scheme runs until the end of 2026.
