Marwa Ahmed Al-Amin Bakhit, a 36-year-old Sudanese expat, had spent almost her entire life in the UAE.
She arrived when she was just one year old, grew up in Dubai and studied there from kindergarten through secondary school. She later joined Dubai Police, where colleagues remembered her as cheerful, calm and kind-hearted.
After waiting nearly 12 years to become a mother, Marwa finally became pregnant with twins.
Her pregnancy had reportedly been normal. She underwent a Caesarean section and was able to see and hold her first baby. But while her second son was being delivered, she suddenly suffered severe complications, including blood clots affecting her lungs and heart.
Doctors tried repeatedly to resuscitate her, but Marwa passed away.
Her twin boys, Fahd and Fahad, survived and were reported to be healthy. But Marwa's story was about more than motherhood.
After losing both of her parents to cancer, she had taken on responsibility for her family and became the main source of support for her two sisters. She was also the family's main provider, as her husband was unemployed.
Then came the day of her Janāzah.
A social media appeal called on people across the UAE to attend because Marwa had no family in the country apart from her husband, asking people to “be her family and brothers.”
And they answered.
Hundreds of people gathered at Al Qusais Cemetery Mosque in Dubai. Many had never met Marwa, yet they came to pray for her, offer condolences and stand beside her grieving husband and sisters.
The prayer hall became so full that some people prayed outside. Others travelled from different emirates simply to be there.
Marwa's family said they were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, prayers and support.
She spent her life caring for others.
And when it was time to say goodbye, strangers came together to make sure she and her family were not alone.
May Allāh have mercy upon Marwa, forgive her, honour her and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
May Allāh protect her two sons and grant them health, īmān and a beautiful life.
A Lesson in History, Governance & Gratitude — World Government Summit 🌍🇵🇰🇦🇪
"I just met Sheikh Mohammed today and he again reminded me that Emirates Airline was helped by Pakistan Airlines in the seventies." ✈️
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan sharing a powerful anecdote at the World Government Summit, Dubai, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In his address, he reflected on the Pakistan he grew up in — a country of optimism and hope, with rapid growth, excellent governance, and one of the best bureaucracies in Asia.
A reminder of a historic fact: When Emirates was established in 1985, it was Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) that provided technical and administrative assistance, helping lay the foundation for what is today one of the world's leading airlines.

In Gaza, surrounded by fear, destruction, and uncertainty, there is still a little girl smiling with the innocence of a child.
She is the beloved daughter of Wafaa and me—a piece of my heart and one of the most precious things in my life.

The Woman Food Rider Who Dresses Like a Man to Work Karachi’s Streets at Night
A woman who has been working as a food delivery rider on the streets of Karachi for several years rides her motorcycle for around 12 hours every day to support her four children.
But the most unusual aspect of her work is that she disguises herself as a man when leaving home at night for food deliveries, so that people do not recognise her as a woman.
“People look at me strangely and realise that I am a woman. They say, ‘You don’t have a husband, you don’t have a father, so why are you working?’ If I had someone to support me, would I be doing this kind of work?” she says.
Mehak lives in Karachi’s Sardar Lines area and has been working as a food rider for the past six years.
She says riding a motorcycle was once her passion. Before marriage, she learned to ride first a bicycle and then a motorcycle with the help of her brother.
But eventually, that passion became a means of earning a living.
