#FarmJustice, what you don't know about #FarmBill reform. I mainly tweet under "Tweets and Replies," and mainly with original material, including data slides.
Here are pictures and videos of our home which will be auctioned off in July, with an open house later in June. Get the detaile here. https://t.co/5mxJM9TPOO
@SecRollins@KamalaHarris Biden, in supporting restoration of adequate Democratic Party New Deal style farm programs during the 1980s farm crisis, and again in 2020, towered over the Republican 1985 #FarmBill, the worst one in history before Republicans ended this core support for farmers in 1996.
@SecRollins@KamalaHarris The immigration crisis was caused by Republican foreign policy and farm policy, such as our continuing policy of losing money on farm exports. https://t.co/zdFuUluHIO Democrats have always been much better, especially Harris, Warren and Sanders.
@ZachNunn@SecRollins Actually you cut the farm program benefits of the Price Loss Coverage Program when you passed the Big Ugly Bill. https://t.co/h0eC2msezl That was after 7 decades of farm program reductions. The Republican Project 2025 calls for ending almost all of the "farm safety net."
@RepAshleyHinson Iowa farmers hoped that biofuels would make up for Republicans ending the real, supply management farm bills, but they’ve ended up subsidizing biofuels with below cost corn and soybeans. Yes, corn prices rose above full costs for 2007-2013, but they were below for 1981-06, 14-20.
@LoudmouthR@RepLuna We're subsidizing China's hogs, both here in the US and globally, paid for by US farmers. 'Free' markets fail & Congress reduced and ended supply management programs to raise these prices above full costs. https://t.co/1Ek62wFFP8
@SRAProject The report promises to tell us about policy, but doesn't give us much. We've penalized farmers to create this pollution. Minimum price floors were reduced, Corn and other crops were below full costs massively subsidizing CAFOs & biofuels. Farms lost pasture and hay.
@iowademocrats@millermeeks MillerMeeks is wrong. In 2022 US net farm income, (income minus expenses,) hit $198 billion, the highest ever, while under Trump it fell to just $106 billion on average. (USDA-ERS, 9/3/25)
@HouseAgGOP One question about it is, will it be the worst farm bill in history, in relation to the need? All of the worst farm bills have been since the core farm programs were ended in 1996. https://t.co/ZUCdtBildz.
@RandyFeenstra Republicans, including you, have voted against farmers for 7 decades. Huge rural losses in population since 1980, even 1950, = lower population for your entire district. Hardly any farms own hogs or dairy, (most had multiple livestock in 1950). https://t.co/SFJDMB6lat
@IAGovernor Increasingly Republican farm bills over 7 decades = lower farm income, farms subsidize of CAFOs, (most Iowa farms losing all hogs). Rural Iowa has also lost population since 1980 & even 1950, even the whole 4th district! Lots of cheap empty rural houses! https://t.co/SFJDMB6lat
USDA's “Product of USA” label is a big step in the right direction, but it’s not the finish line.
Mandatory country of origin labeling for beef must be reinstated. Only Congress can require origin labels on all beef sold in the United States.
Call (202) 224-3121 and tell Congress to #LabelOurBeef.
@RepFeenstra Is it Ok with you Randy Feenestra, if American hogs are owned by the Chinese, Brazilians, and Canadian? Is it Ok with you if American farmland and hogs are owned by giant US corporations? (Do they fund your campaigns?) Should U.S. farmers subsidize hogs in China?
@iowademocrats@RepFeenstra@RepAshleyHinson@RepMMM@ZachNunn There's also one other huge problem: the reduction (1953-1995) and ending (1996-2026) of the farm programs of the Democratic Party New Deal. Simply going back to the Republican farm programs we had prior to Trump is not enough. https://t.co/ZUCdtBildz
@RepFeenstra Republicans created the Border crisis by supporting dictators in Central America, losing money on corn exports to Mexico, and following Trump's call for you to do nothing about it, so he could campaign on the problem he and you made worse.
@RandyFeenstra You Republicans have devastated Iowa farmers and all of rural Iowa, as you've reduced and ended New Deal style non-subsidy farm programs. Your whole district has lost population, due to the massive reductions in rural areas! https://t.co/SFJDMB6lat
