Did I hear you correctly @LeaderJohnThune? Did you really just say that the SAVE America Act is a “PAID INFLUENCER” campaign?

Because if that is the line coming out of Senate leadership, then we have a serious problem.

The American people who are demanding election integrity are not “influencers.” They are voters. They are taxpayers. They are citizens who are tired of watching their country get treated like a suggestion instead of a sovereign nation.

Requiring proof of citizenship to vote is not radical. It is common sense. It is the bare minimum standard for protecting a constitutional republic.

So let’s be very clear. Grassroots Americans speaking up for secure elections are not some astroturfed social media campaign. We are the people you were elected to represent.

If defending the right of American citizens to vote in American elections makes us “influencers,” then fine. Consider this influence.

Equal rules for Congress — not special privileges.

Here’s what real accountability in Washington should look like:

1. No lifetime benefits. Members of Congress should earn a salary only while they serve. Once they leave office, the perks end.

2. Lawmakers should be in the same Social Security system as every other American. No separate retirement pipeline.

3. If they want additional retirement savings, they should fund it themselves like everyone else.

4. Congress shouldn’t be able to give themselves raises. Any salary adjustment should follow the same cost-of-living changes Americans get and if the country is running a deficit, their pay should go down.

5. Members of Congress should use the same healthcare system available to the American people.

6. Every law they pass should apply to them as well. No exceptions and absolutely no insider trading.

7. Any special deals or benefits created for members of Congress by Congress should be eliminated.

8. Public service in Congress should be exactly that service, not a permanent career.

The vision was always citizen legislators: people who step up, serve their time, and then return home to live and work among the people they represent.

Two terms. Serve your country then return to your life.
