@herdyshepherd1 One of my conclusions was the importance of shelter. We were facing south westerly into the prevailing wind and I think that hammers the grass as well as the cattle. We brought them in and fed them off silage from the same land and intakes dropped by about half.

@herdyshepherd1 The pastures weren’t grazed from late May until the cattle came off the fell in late Oct. A pretty good herbal lay but no fertiliser. The grass was probably half way up my shin when they went in. Moved every 2 days.

@herdyshepherd1 I had pure Galloway cows and a pure Galloway bull. Also at 1,000ft. 12 cows + followers mob grazing 60 acres. It didn’t matter how much they ate - the goodness had gone out of the grass and they went backwards.

@herdyshepherd1 Please can we see the same cattle and the same land at the end of March? I tried exactly the same but as the grass loses its nutrition values the cattle go backwards because you are feeding the weather with belly-fill.

I’m really shocked to be hearing this news. These rights Have been used for centuries By thousands of different families to feed our communitys . Again the lawmakers takeaway the rights from the people that depend on it for a living .
