Norway has national security and petroleum regulations to restrict non-European and authoritarian states from acquiring critical resource infrastructure. so does the EU, meanwhile Canada has sold tens of billions of dollars of Canada's energy fields and reserves to Communist China. Canada will be the only member of the EU that can sell it's energy fields to foreign ownership.

Chinese state-linked and Communist Party-backed entities hold ownership or major stakes in several key Canadian natural resource, energy, and mining assets:
Antimony: Beaver Brook Mine in central Newfoundland (Canada's only primary antimony mine, producing roughly 5% of global supply) is owned by China Minmetals (via Hunan Nonferrous Metals).

Critical Minerals & Arctic Corridors: China Minmetals (through its subsidiary MMG) controls significant Canadian mineral assets, including the Izok Corridor Project in Nunavut (high-grade copper, zinc, lead, silver, and gold), which links to potential Arctic road and deep-water port proposals.

Energy & Oil Sands: Shanghai Energy Corp (a subsidiary of Shanghai Sinooil Energy Holding Corporation, owned by China Energy Reserve and Chemicals Group/CERCG, tied to the Chinese Communist Party) acquired distressed assets, aging wells, and liabilities in Alberta's oil and gas sector. State-backed giants like CNOOC, PetroChina, and Sinopec have historically held major stakes in Canadian oil sands projects (such as CNOOC's takeover of Nexen).

Gold and Mining Companies: Allied Gold (a Canadian-listed company) agreed to a $5.5-billion all-cash takeover by a partially state-owned Chinese subsidiary under CCP oversight. Chinese state-linked firms have also targeted other Canadian-connected mining footprints (such as Zijin Mining's investments).

Tech & Financial Stakes: China Investment Corp (CIC)—controlled by the Chinese Communist Party—has held over 10% of stock in major Canadian resources firms like Teck Resources

I have sent a letter to Premier Wab Kinew asking him to release the completed Winnipeg Police Headquarters inquiry report before the October 28 election.

The report is finished. It has been sent to the printer. Winnipeggers should not have to vote without seeing it.

This file has hung over City Hall for more than a decade. Taxpayers paid for the project. Taxpayers paid for the inquiry. They have a right to the findings and the recommendations before they cast a ballot.

When I was Minister of Environment, I released the Sio Silica findings immediately. No delay. No waiting on politics. I believe the Premier shares that respect for voters, and for the truth being known rather than held back because an election is close.

This is not about party. It is about transparency. I am asking Premier Kinew to post the report now, and I am asking Mayor Gillingham to join that call.

Better days are ahead for Winnipeg with change that makes sense.

Winnipeg firefighters answered 274 vacant-property fires in 2024. On May 12, 2026, crews fought six in three hours. As of August, the City was still enforcing the vacant-building bylaw at 810 properties.

Fines after the fire are not a plan. Since 2023, the fire service billed more than $3.5 million in vacant-property charges and collected about six cents on the dollar. I will collect that money.

As your mayor, every vacant building is a file that gets closed: repaired, reoccupied, rebuilt, or taken down.

No demolition fee if the owner puts affordable housing on the same site. 15 days max for every other demolition.

Owners face doubled vacant charges after two years. Tripled after three. Report the vacancy within 6 months. Have a plan within 12, or face fines and title action.

A boarded house is a fuse, a place for crime, a danger to a community. As your mayor, I will rid our city of the dangerous vacant homes.
