I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Abdirizak Karod. Abdirizak was a pillar in Ottawa’s Somali and Muslim community for decades. He was a respected community leader who dedicated his life to helping newcomers and refugees build safe, welcoming, and hopeful lives in Ottawa. I admired his leadership, how he supported youth, and helped thousands of people find belonging in our city. His work changed lives.
On behalf of the City of Ottawa, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife Sahra, his children Ayan, Mohamud, Hakim, and Lukman, and to all his family, friends, colleagues, and the many community members who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service and compassion will continue to be felt across our city for years to come.
Almighty. We thank You for every blessing. Hidden and apparent. You know our pain, disappointment sadness, grief and loneliness. You’re All-Knowing and All-Seeing. Ease our struggles and comfort us. We trust Your Plan though we’re unaware what’s to come. Aameen.
The old order is not coming back.
Nostalgia is not a strategy.
From the fracture, we can build something better, stronger, and more just.
Canada is choosing honesty, strength, and action.
That’s our path.

Almighty. Keep reminding us that You can heal us in a moment. You can forgive in an instant. You can make the impossible a reality. May we always be grateful for everything You’ve bestowed on us. Aameen.
Help others in their time of need. It’s so much better than a thousand hands clapping for someone’s success. When you help alleviate another person’s problems, the Almighty will surely do the same for you in this world and the Hereafter.
MOST EMOTIONAL MOMENT when the deaf, mute and blind huffaz and students of knowledge from rural India fulfilled their dream of visiting Madinah, praying in Masjid Nabawi and presenting themselves to say salam to our Master Muhammad pbuh himself together with Abu Bakr RA and Umar RA. No words can ever describe their emotions and feelings.
Watching some of them greet him with movements of their hands because they are unable to speak brought me to tears! Allahu Akbar!
May Allah Almighty reward all those who made this possible. On behalf of @abdullahaiduk Jazakumullah khairan.

Canada and Kenya are partners in key missions, including reducing poverty, empowering women, and building a more secure, peaceful world.
I sat down with @WilliamsRuto to discuss next steps in that work, and develop new avenues for increased trade and investment.
Yesterday, a young Muslim woman in Ottawa suffered an unprovoked assault on public transit, including with reprehensible Islamophobic threats and slurs.
Hate and violence have no place in our city, or our country. The perpetrator must be held accountable, and my thoughts today are with the victim. No one should be unsafe as they head to work or school in our communities.
Choose kindness above all else. Kind people use positivity to create more light. That’s because they’ve seen what negativity can do. They make time for others in a world that doesn’t wait for anyone. It takes strength to shake off all the bad and move ahead.
The premiers and I are united.
With a changing global landscape, we’re working together to secure new trade deals and build a stronger, more resilient Canada.
Life’s indeed a journey. Successful is he who can navigate the ups & downs while maintaining his balance. Don’t dwell on the past, don’t wallow in self-pity, don’t repeat mistakes, don’t focus on negativity, help others along the way, spread kindness wherever you go.
The truth is nobody will truly understand what you’re going through except the Almighty. He knows you better than you know yourself. He’s the only One who knows your true circumstances and is always available when you need Him. He will heal you and make you whole again.
Don’t ever feel the need to look down on someone; not for anything that the Almighty has given you - wealth, power, good looks etc. Remember His Might and Power and how He can take away your blessings in a heartbeat.
You don't have to do what people want you to do. You have to do what’s within your capacity for the sake of Allah Alone. You’ll be surprised that you can actually do much more when your focus is Allah. So keep going, do your best and ignore the rest.
The pause on reciprocal tariffs announced by President Trump is a welcome reprieve for the global economy.
As President Trump and I have agreed, the U.S. President and the Canadian Prime Minister will commence negotiations on a new economic and security relationship immediately following the Federal election.
As part of today’s announcement, the President has signalled that the U.S. will engage in bilateral negotiations with a number of other countries. This will likely result in a fundamental restructuring of the global trading system.
In that context, Canada must also continue to deepen its relationships with trading partners that share our values, including the free and open exchange of goods, services, and ideas.
This election is importantly about who can best fight for Canadian families, workers, and businesses at the negotiating tables with the United States and other potential partner countries. The stakes have never been higher.
I am working hard to earn that responsibility to protect our country through this crisis and to build Canada strong.
