I am heartbroken to hear of Sliman Mansour's passing.
He was the leading, most recognizable figure contemporary Palestinian art. So many of his paintings became instantly iconic, like Jamal elMahamel (Camel of Hardship), depicting an elder Palestinian carrying his city, Jerusalem, on his back.
I feel so fortunate and blessed to be with him in an upcoming documentary by Ali Al Arian and David Riker. But it pains me that he left us before he could witnessed a liberated Palestine. May he rest in eternal power with the unbroken line of his ancestors who've nurtured Palestine's soil for millennia.
