Six years ago, Zenith and Lafarge were both trading around ₦10. I took advantage of Lafarge at ₦16 and Zenith at ₦14. Both companies declared ₦10 for FY 2025, that’s essentially the unit cost back then.

I was literally urging friends around me to take what I saw as a rare opportunity to invest in fundamentally sound companies.

In fact, I bought 10,000 units (a ₦100,000 gift in 2020 that is worth about ₦2 million today) of Lafarge at ₦10 as a gift to encourage an outstanding UNILAG accounting student I was mentoring at the time. She later built positions in Zenith at ₦17, UBA at ₦8, CAP at ₦22, and also participated in the MTN public offer.

A few years later, she sold about 80% of her portfolio to fund part of her tuition in Canada. She’s on this app, I’m sure she’ll be smiling reading this today.

The lesson is simple: when you spot a rare opportunity in equity investing, you don’t hesitate… you size up with conviction.

4700 remains a resistance level. Traders can try selling on the first touch and if it holds. If the gold price breaks through and holds above this resistance level, the sell signal will be invalid.

Support is at 4600-4580. Traders can buy on pullbacks. If the price breaks below 4580, a new round of decline towards 4550 is expected.
