Historian analyzing the rise of 🇺🇸 fascism through the lens of my expertise in Jewish & Eastern European history, and history of fascism. It can happen here.
Capitalism is so efficient that it can produce both the world’s first trillionaire and record levels of homelessness, food insecurity, and medical debt at the same time—and call it success.
@Drangula@MikeMcBooger Stating that a given narrative is “unlikely to be true” because “the News is fake” is textbook Poisoning the Well. Odd to double down on that fallacious rhetoric in the same breath you’re claiming to have not committed a fallacy. Also, please learn what “leftist” means.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral Not sure where this “purely capitalist” notion is coming from, nor do I care. I’m no longer interested in talking to you about something that’s universally accepted (Nazis not being socialists by any stretch), yet you inexplicably refuse to accept. I’m sorry you’re so angry.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral Ultimately, Hitler privatized far, far more than he nationalized, and as I already stated, capitalist societies always have some state-owned enterprises, so nationalizing industries, in and of itself, is not proof of socialism.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral You can’t have “identities” of a socialist regime. You either are socialist or not. The Nazis enacted policies the polar opposite of socialism. Their large scale privatization campaign, expansion of private property, and close alignment with business leaders is textbook fascism.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral First, it’s “rebuttal” and second, you should be using the adjectival form “rebut.” The Nazis had nothing to do w/ socialism. They were the ultimate capitalists, closely aligned with oligarchs and business leaders. They expanded private property and viciously persecuted leftists
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral I’ve already provided fact-based analysis to illustrate to you how your position is incorrect. The Nazis epitomize fascism, a far-right ideology that is diametrically opposed, and mutually exclusive, to socialism. The entire field is in consensus about this. No need for insults.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral Socialism and fascism are mutually exclusive ideologies. That is to say, it is impossible to be both a socialist and a fascist at the same time. Making that claim is inherently nonsensical and akin to calling Trump both right-wing and left-wing at the same time.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral I’ve studied fascist regimes for more than two decades and can tell you that the Nazis were, in fact, fascists and vehemently, violently opposed socialism/communism. This isn’t just my interpretation, but rather the consensus of credible historians and political scientists.
@Martin89Aston@MikeMcBooger@arthurthegemini@TheDunkCentral The Nazis despised socialists, terrorized any Leftist party members, and enacted an aggressively, hyper-capitalistic platform upon gaining power. You are completely incorrect here.
@Rampage21555@DJ_PROPER@adgirlMM Democrats are corporatist centrists and have nothing to do with the ideology of socialism/communism.
It’s genuinely shocking how entirely ignorant of basic political science/history/civid the average American is.
I’m sorry, you deserve better than being so clueless & benighted.
