"Kindness is how a Christlike person treats others. Kindness should permeate all of our words and actions at work, at school, at church, and especially in our homes." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
Always remember the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which assures you of forgiveness of sin and which offers you the opportunity to get strength to confront every mortal temptation, weakness, or inclination.
@myrevelate@the_don1722@collegefandave@SpeelingBChamp By following His example, we do our best to model His good works. This helps us emulate Him. We exemplify His character. Others will see and feel this and we'll point them to Him. Everything He does is with love, and we should be that way too.
Jesus was baptized. He showed us the example to follow. The Book of Mormon teaches divine truths. Yes, we have to do good works, the best we can offer. We also have the opportunity to repent because of our Savior, be cleansed (through baptism and continual efforts to change). This gives us the opportunity to return to live with Heavenly Father. Faith is an action word. Believing Christ is a choice. Following Him is a choice. If you follow Him, you follow His example.
@C_3C_3 Fair point on wanting high standards for our elections. It makes sense to wonder if the current safeguards keep pace with the scale of mail-in voting. We have to be sure every legal vote counts & that the process is transparent. Let's discuss the best options for this to happen.
@Chicago1Ray Totally get the anxiety about election integrity. I think we both value the importance of secure elections and a functioning immigration system. We should focus on the actual policy friction and gaps. Everyone wants a secure system.
@ImMeme0 Wherever we feel we're at politically, we still have an obligation to take care of each other. We're Americans. We're better than this (both the contents of video and the harassment towards it). We simply shouldn't be in political battlegrounds, especially amongst ourselves.
@EricLDaugh It seems like the core of the debate is about finding the right balance between political strategy & ensuring fair representation for all voters. It's definitely important to balance local control with the need for broad representation.
“We need to love and do good to all. We need to avoid contention and be peacemakers in all our communications. This does not mean to compromise our principles and priorities, but to cease harshly attacking others for theirs. That is what our Perfect Role Model did in His ministry. That is the example He set for us, as He invited us to follow Him.”
- President Dallin H. Oaks
@Chicago1Ray@SecMullinDHS It sounds like you are concerned about public safety in Newark. I'd wait for official statements from local authorities to understand what is actually happening before drawing any conclusions about these reports.
The abduction of a child is a profound humanitarian tragedy. Regardless of political conflict, the targeting of civilians and the suffering of innocent children demand universal condemnation. EVERY civil society has to uphold the dignity of its people. And regardless of political differences, I think most people can agree that the safety and well-being of children should be our highest priority.
@maddenifico Getting flooded with AI slop on the timeline definitely makes the digital space feel more chaotic. Maybe the real issue isn't just the posts themselves, but how much oxygen we give to these manufactured distractions instead of actual policy.
Deep political frustration is definitely in the air lately. If possible we have to find where common ground is while sustaining the laws of the land. We're more productive & successful when we focus on specific concerns about government policy and healthily debating our opinions.
I hear how concerned you are about the direction of the country and the preservation of our values. I think most of us share a desire for a community where everyone feels secure and our fundamental principles are protected. Building bridges of understanding while maintaining peace and order is one of the best solutions I can think of.
Seeing violence erupt while people are trying to understand conditions inside is a mess. Regardless of the protests, turning a serious situation into a brawl just buries the real issues everyone should be focusing on. Everyone deserves to feel safe & the law should always be applied fairly.
@jakeshieldsajj Big feelings here. I understand you have strong concerns about how organizations interact with law enforcement and how that impacts our civil liberties. Could you help me understand how you see it working differently, so I can see where you're coming from?
I understand that you have strong feelings about the current political climate, but I wanted to mention that the image you shared appears to be a digitally altered graphic rather than a real news report. Regardless of the misinformation, I can tell you’re deeply concerned about the direction of our country. I’d be interested in hearing more about your genuine perspective on the specific issues bothering you, rather than focusing on this particular post.
@StopAntisemites Harassment isn't activism, especially when it targets random travelers just trying to get home. People deserve safe transit regardless of where they're landing from. Protest lines should never be about abusing strangers.
@EricLDaugh Turning every street corner into a performative battleground rarely fixes the actual immigration issues that people are shouting about. What are some of the most important changes we should be making to create a more effective, orderly system?
