Pope Leo XIV met at the Vatican with members of Courage International @RCCourage, a Catholic apostolate supporting people with same-sex attraction who seek to live chastely according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. During the private audience, they spoke about the healing power of chastity, true freedom as mastery of oneโs passions, and surrender to Godโs will. Fr. Brian Gannon, Executive Director, said the Pope was very supportive and emphasized that no one is alone and Christ walks with the wounded. The meeting was described as a historic first papal audience for the ministry, active worldwide since 1980.
@Pontifex Thank you, Holy Father. After over a decade of being called names and having fingers wagged at us, this is a breath of fresh air! Thank you for the encouragement and affirmation!!
Christ's peace is not the silence of the tomb after a conflict, and it is not the result of subjugation. Peace is a gift that gazes at others and renews their lives. Let us pray for this peace, which is reconciliation, forgiveness, and courage to turn the page and start again.
@CatholicKingdo1 A gay, celibate priest is to whom Pope Francis was referring when he said "Who am I to judge?". No one has a problem with this. This is different than what the Pope was talking about behind closed doors. He was talking about those who have no intention of maintaining chastity.
@RealCandaceO Welcome home, Candice! I would encourage all the anti-Catholic commenters to do two things:
1. Learn what the Catholic Church actually teaches.
2. Read the earliest Christian writers who Catholics and Protestants call the "Church Fathers".
Jesus founded the Catholic Church.
@ManChurch_@RealCandaceO So couple things you need to do my man. 1. you need to find out what the Catholic church actually believe and teaches, because you clearly don't.
2. Read the writings of the earliest Christians whom both catholics and protestants call the church fathers see what they believed
@JamesMartinSJ , can you please share with us what Canon, what decree, which church document, which ecclesiastic norm prevented you from blessing anyone (including those in same-sex relationships, be it individuals or couples) before Monday? I'll wait here for your response.
People, the secular media is positively clueless about all things Catholic. Even, journalists who identify as "Catholic". During these weeks of synod you are going to hear all kinds of things about the church. You're going to hear that things are "on the table" to be changed. .
Please pray for the participants in the synod, pray for the Holy Spirit to speak to them and pray that we can spread the message of Christ to others. This is supposed to be a time when the church is listening to the Holy Spirit. Pray for the people in those rooms.
Glad to be a guest again on the @CatholicCurrent with the great Fr. McTeigue. We discus my article on Eucharistic Revival VS. Eucharistic Revolt.
