🆕 One thing I regretted about previous versions of "the map" was that the "#Kollupitiya Circular Route" wasn't represented by an actual circle.

So I spent this weekend trying to make the maths work. The result is attached.

THE MAP SHOULD BE BIGGER THAN ME

A few days ago I shared a #HarryBeck style diagram of the new #LankaMetro bus network. It got a bunch of shares.

Many credited me; some didn't; and some of you came to my defence over the missing attributions, and I'm grateful. 🙏

(To be honest, the first version carried no indication of who made it, so I can hardly blame anyone for not knowing it was @nuuuwan. Especially if they reshared the reshare of a reshare.)

And here's the truth. I write code for a living, most of it is open source. The metro map itself is a product of that sort of code. Most people reusing my code don't know who I am. That has never stopped me from making a good living, or from enjoying the work. I've been coding since I was 12, and I do it because it's fun. Recognition and money are useful by-product, but not the main point (for me).

What I actually want is for the map (or a better version of it) to get USED. "Soft" things like this matter. However good the buses are, if people can't understand the network, they won't use it well. Perhaps Minister @BimalRathnayake et al can help here.

And if this map ended up OFFICIAL, on every bus and at every bus stop, and I got ZERO recognition? I could live with that quite happily.

Ceuta ist nicht Europa 🇪🇺. Ceuta ist eine Enklave Spaniens 🇪🇸 in Nordafrika im histor. Marokko, ein Überbleibsel der spanischen Kolonialherrschaft.

Der Zeitpunkt ist relevant. Spaniens Premier Pedro Sanchez besuchte vor einigen Tagen nach vier Jahren erstmals wieder Algerien 🇩🇿, Marokkos Rivalen in der Region, was dem marokkanischen König 🇲🇦 nicht gefällt.

Spanien hat aktuell extrem schlechte Beziehungen zu 🇮🇱 und den USA 🇺🇸. Zwei der engsten politischen Partner des marokkanischen Königs. Dass Israel und die USA ein Interesse an Problemen für Spanien haben, liegt auf der Hand.

Die Emotion der Menschen in Ceuta ist echt. Selbst wenn einige geschickt worden wären, versuchen Tausende ihr Glück. Die Jugend sieht in Marokko kaum Zukunft und will um jeden Preis weg.

Rechte labern von „Invasion“. Wer in Ceuta einreist - selbst legal - ist offiziell noch nicht in die EU eingereist. Ceuta gehört nicht zum Schengen-Raum und um von dort aufs spanische Festland zu gelangen, braucht man Visum oder positiven Asylprozess. Spanien und Marokko verkündeten bereits, alle Personen zurückzuführen.

Das Geschehen hat somit keine konkreten Folgen. Außer dass weltweit gegen Sanchez, Spanien, Migranten und Muslime gehetzt wird. Man kann sich also selbst zusammenreimen, wessen Interessen aktuell bedient werden.

Have you guys experienced this new 'PICK ME' camaraderie mafia tactic mainly from 🛺 and smaller cars?

This is where they wait for a peak time and keep accepting hires and then swiftly cancelling - so the rate keeps escalating.

Now, how this exactly works I don't fully comprehend. But a driver or 2 recently verified that this is true. Apparently they can see when a fellow driver takes a hire, and they have coalitions where they try to 'outsmart' the app.

I am all for drivers to make an extra buck - if they do so with transparency, honesty, and some integrity.

In the past few weeks myself, Jess, and a few friends have all experienced this. The most frustrating part being that the customer's time is wasted, and more oft than not we end up late for our respective endeavour.

I have been trying to book a tuks since 6pm today for band prac. This circus of accepting & cancelling happened over & over. The hire that was 1500 initially is now nearly 3000 (just to bloody Nadimala!)

There's no point in complaining to Pickme. Their customer care is toe to toe with Dialog and Com Bank.

I am running late for rehearsals. And am just taking one off the streets.
