normalize saying “unfortunately you’re no longer a safe person for me and I refuse to continually sacrifice my nervous system to make you feel comfortable”
There is Khayr in everything, but only if you look with imaan. The rain doesn't ruin your plans, it gives you a chance to make more dua. You lost something beloved to you because Allah heard things you didn't hear. You can't fall asleep because Allah wants you to talk to him.
Leer a Dostoievski es recordar que el ser humano no se divide entre buenos y malos, sino entre quienes se atreven a mirar su oscuridad y quienes pasan la vida huyendo de ella.
sometimes shukr is simply noticing what you usually overlook. a safe home, a meal, a functioning body, people who care about you, the ability to pray, another morning to repent. we have so many blessings that we've stopped calling blessings.
the scariest thing about staying home all the time is that it doesn't feel dangerous at first.
it feels peaceful.
you tell yourself you're just resting, that you're protecting your energy or taking a break but when isolation becomes a lifestyle, something starts changing inside you.
your mind begins to slow down, your thoughts become louder, you start overthinking everything.
small problems become huge cos you spend too much time trapped inside your own head.
psychologists call this mental rumination: the habit of replaying the same thoughts, worries, and fears over and over without moving forward and the strange part is, many people don't realize what's happening. they think they're lazy but most times it's not laziness; it's mental exhaustion.
you slowly lose the desire to go outside.
meeting people starts feeling like a burden. even a simple trip to buy water from the store feels like a major task.
you spend hours scrolling, sleep later than you should, wake up tired, and repeat the same cycle.
the most dangerous part is that you convince yourself that you're simply resting but there is a BIG difference btwn resting and retreating from life cos when you stay disconnected from the world for too long, you don't just lose touch with people.
you slowly lose touch with yourself.
the cure isn't another day in bed.
the cure is stepping outside, seeing people, moving your body and reminding your brain that life exists beyond your room.
how do you tell someone "i'm not ignoring you i'm just disconnected from reality right now and the days are all blurred together and i feel completely apathetic towards everyone/everything around me so it's really hard for me to maintain a conversation" without saying that
i think the love you receive from someone who knows how to be alone is the most sincere. a solitary soul loves u by choice and not out of need for company
It’s always fun to throw people off with your duality. You can be mysterious but also honest about your lived experiences. Funny but strict. You can be multiple things at once. Life is more fun that way when you have a multidimensional and layered personality.
