Gambians woke up to front-page news in The Point Newspaper that suspects arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of bureau de change worker Isatou Fatty have reportedly been freed after months in detention without formal charges.
On December 20th, 2025, 21-year-old Isatou Fatty was stabbed to death at Hewal Bureau De Change in the busy Brusubi area. At the time, The Fatu Network reported that eyewitnesses indicated the victim, identified as Isatou Fatty from Talinding, was attacked near the Medicare Clinic after a suspect entered the premises.
Weeks later, police announced the arrest of two suspects identified in reports as Musa Saine, a Senegalese national, and Dawda Kora, a Gambian.
The Point now reports that the suspects have been released after months in detention without formal charges.
