@allendial I don't think that makes sense no. Faucet is a control plane in itself and mixing two separate control planes doesn't sound like the best design.
This whole idea of SDN/OpenFlow means we can write our own forwarding implementation and not rely on vendor-based ones (e.g EVPN)
@allendial Fundamentally, inside an OpenFlow domain you don't need a tunneling mechanism for segmentation as we can steer individual 5-tuple flows.
Practically you don't want to steer every flow, so we use a mixture of faucet policy and VLAN tags to group similar flows/devices together.
We want to thank @brewaddict and everyone who has contributed to Ryu over the past (almost) decade. Your excellent work has allowed controllers such as faucet and many others to achieve great success.
We are honoured that we get to help keep the project going!
Stepped down as the maintainer of osrg/ryu. 8 and a half years ago, started Python library for SDN, OpenFlow, BGP, etc. Thanks everyone! The Faucet Foundation is the new maintainer, developing OSS controller using Ryu https://t.co/vInNrLgCnG https://t.co/aNPkWQc4qT @faucetsdn

An open-source #SDN solution out of @waikato and @REANNZ in New Zealand, called @faucetsdn , is helping universities around the world manage their complex networks in an affordable way, with a little support from our made-in-Alberta Rapid Access Cloud. https://t.co/4xAU1KOSiI
I just wrote a blog post on building a cheap OpenFlow / @faucetsdn WiFi lab at home, hopefully useful for those who want to get into SDN development:

@brinkoo7@Teck923 We are always looking for ways to make faucet more user friendly, if you have suggestions how our logs could be improved or better documented let us know.
Our #Poseidon project helps answer what's on a network and what it's doing. Interested in how to get Poseidon up and running in conjunction with #Faucet? Check out our #blog and video tutorial! https://t.co/EUInvMJkv7
