@Mwilburn123 No there wasn't, they couldn't have made enough sterile flies to cover centam the moment it made it through the Darien. There's been a lab brewing, For a long ass while now and it'll open in 2027 q2. Monitoring labs was fucked in 2023 when they made it to Mexico.
@CryptoGeorgist@DidChaseSlamIt@mnmcsofgp@agraybee Until it broke through the Darien in 2022, pre 2022 you have to drop flies in 300 km stretch near the darien, in 2023 it was in Mexico already which means you'd have to drop insane amount of flies throughout the entirety of central America. It wasn't possible.
@CryptoGeorgist@DidChaseSlamIt@mnmcsofgp@agraybee Yes you imbecile. Doge cuts only affected like a monitoring situation in central America in 2024, when the screw worms were already in Mexico by 2023. They're still dropping sterilized flies to breed with the non sterilized flies to control the pop but it was fucked since 2022.
@Mwilburn123@roon0292 This isn't doges fault but rather the prople in charge in 2022. Nothing the US could have done now. But I trust the USDA to mitigate the damage
@Mwilburn123@roon0292 No no it didn't. They could not have made enough sterile flies to do anything at all. The moment it broke through this was gonna happen until then US can make more.
@Mwilburn123@roon0292 Also what the fuck is this? they didnt deplot flies to eat the screwworms at all. the screwworms turn into flies. they air dropped sterile flies to control the population. you dont know what youre talking about.
@Mwilburn123@roon0292 They're still doing this, DOGE did not cut this at all. it's just impossible for them to make enough sterile flies to patrol all the area needed since it broke through the darien gap in 2022.
