Happy Father’s Day to my dad.
Golf has given our family a lot of good days, but this one at @RoyalDornochGC still sits near the top.
His 70th birthday, my brother on the tee, the sea behind it all — and a reminder that the best parts of golf usually aren’t on the scorecard.
@HEBenjoyer@KylePorterNS Thor: 1 win, 3 top-10s. T7 at the Scottish and won the Rocket.
Bridgeman: 1 win, 6 top-10s, 15th in SG: Total. Then 9th at BMW and T4 at East Lake.
Thor has a case, but Bridgeman finished the year playing well too. I’d still take Bridgeman.
Jackson Koivun will be the second-youngest American ever to play a Presidents Cup, behind only Jordan Spieth.
He’s already 6-1 in NCAA match play, 3-1 in the Walker Cup and won the 3M Open in his third pro start.
That’s a pretty fun résumé to bring to Medinah.
@Geomodman That’s what makes the next five years interesting. Scottie started late and has made up a lot of ground fast, but catching Jack or Tiger is still a massive ask.
The more realistic question is how far into that next tier he can get before this run cools off.
Scottie Scheffler now has 22 PGA TOUR wins at 30.
Jack Nicklaus had 30 before turning 30. Tiger Woods won 46 times in his 20s. Rory McIlroy didn’t reach 20 until 32.
Scottie isn’t Tiger. Nobody is.
But 22 by 30 puts this run in pretty serious company.
Viktor Hovland and Ryan Gerard tied for the lead at the TOUR Championship at East Lake. Scottie Scheffler two back.
Moving Day in the FedExCup finale has plenty of room to get interesting.
Hope everyone gets a little golf in today. Playing, watching, or both.
@JOEcidOO I understand this pain. I play in a Tuesday three-man scramble league where we’re regularly giving 3–5 strokes over nine holes. You can play really well and still have no chance. 😂
@BigSwingTempo Breakfast balls are for people like me who show up to the first tee one minute before their tee time without hitting a ball. If a course record is in danger, we can revisit the rule.
Min Woo Lee watches East Lake on YouTube, shows up and shoots 62.
Cameron Young goes from dead last Thursday to right back in the fight Friday.
Golf has a nice way of reminding you that yesterday doesn’t get the final word.
Go play the next hole.
@paint_onwood Callaway asked for the ad. Callaway approved the ad. Then Callaway ran when it blew up.
Now you’re pointing to slur-filled replies from some fans and blaming “these people” for the fallout?
That’s not the cause. That’s a scapegoat.
@SnobbyScheffler You acknowledge they weren’t supporting domestic violence, then condemn the staged scene anyway.
And calling Matt’s post a “drunk tweet” is cheap. If Callaway requested and approved the ad, their CEO being angry while defending his company is pretty understandable.
@theOGkimpage “At worst it’s violence against women. At best it’s misogyny.”
Or it’s neither.
It’s a scripted parody where his absurd obsession with the golf club is the joke. You can dislike the execution, but calling that misogyny assumes a message the ad never actually makes.
@SlappinDa@Top100Rick Obsession came out this year and was one of 2026’s biggest box-office hits. Using a current pop-culture reference in an ad seems pretty normal.
Maybe the joke didn’t land for everyone. That doesn’t make the reference irrelevant—or turn the ad into something it wasn’t.
@LisaMCornwell This framing is absurd.
She wasn’t beaten or even pushed to the ground. The behind-the-scenes video shows her staging the fall for a scripted commercial.
If that’s now treated like real abuse, good luck making movies, TV shows or ads that depict anything uncomfortable.
@mattkendrick@CallawayGolf Matt, this is exactly why so many of us felt the reaction never added up.
If Callaway asked for the ad, approved it, then expected Good Good to take the fall, that’s a completely different level of responsibility than the public was led to believe.
Glad you said it plainly.
And there it is.
Callaway approved the ad, then acknowledged its own review process failed, while Good Good absorbed nearly all of the consequences.
Now Good Good’s CEO says they were asked to take the fall.
That would explain quite a bit.
Interesting that @CallawayGolf asks us to make an ad then approves it then asks us to take the fall then drops us in a coordinated media blitz and covers it up by giving a million dollars away thinking everyone will be ok with it. 30 for 39 will be legendary.
@CFBHome This is where the criticism goes off the rails.
She’s literally portrayed as a golfer in the ad. The entire joke is his ridiculous obsession with a driver.
Dislike the execution. Call it cringey. But assigning some deeper message that simply isn’t there is dishonest.
